Waukee Northwest girls basketball player Romey Croatt and West Des Moines Valley boys basketball player Zay Robinson were voted the Des Moines Register's metro-area female and male Athletes of the Week for the week of March 2-8.
Croatt won female Athlete of the Week with 43% of the vote.
She was named to the Class 5A all-tournament team at the state basketball tournament after averaging 13 points over two games for Waukee Northwest.
Croatt finished with 10 points, five rebounds and three assists during the Wolves' 63-56 5A quarterfinal win over No. 6 seed Cedar Rapids Prairie on March 3. She added 16 points and 11 rebounds during a close 52-47 loss to Dowling in the semifinals on March 6.
Robinson won male Athlete of the Week with 50% of the vote.
He led a balanced attack for the Valley basketball team during its 71-60 substate final win over DCG on March 4.
Robinson went for 20 points thanks to a strong 12 of 14 showing from the foul line. He also pulled down 10 rebounds to finish with a double-double while adding three assists and two steals.
