Sadly, not a shock about Webb.. Or LaRoche for that matter.

Makes me really wonder if the Konerko push rumors are true.

AZ Republic made it seem like Konerko is out of ARZ's price range and with the declining of LaRoche's option I think that might be true. I think all moves will come under $7M per acquisition and trades for cheap talent.

My guess is that Casey Kotchman could be looked at as a fill in option at 1st.. Or maybe they trade for Alex Gordon of Kansas City, who's value has decreased a bit.

Per Rotoworld:

Trevor Hoffman told Barry M. Bloom of MLB.com that he is keeping his eye on the Diamondbacks' closer situation.

The Diamondbacks just hired Kevin Towers, Hoffman's former general manager in San Diego, so it makes some sense on the surface. "I've known K.T. for such a long time and I figured having a little history there would help," said Hoffman. "But I don't know. I'm coming off a tough year. I don't know if people are going to be turned off by that or not. I hope the strong second half I had will compensate." Hoffman, 43, that he is only willing to return for another season if a team will let him close games. The Diamondbacks' bullpen was a complete mess this past season, but it would be tough for any team to hand Hoffman the ninth-inning gig at this point.

Oh dear lord, no..

I'd rather them go after Brian Fuentes.. And that's saying very little.

To be honest, things are not looking good. ARZ is considering a 43 year old Trevor Hoffman, close to signing a 38 year old Geoff Blum, declined 1B Adam LaRoche to get a soon to be 36 year old Paul Konerko if they can get him to drop his price. I agree we need some more veterans on the team but I was thinking of guys still in their prime or just reaching their prime.

Hoffman had a good second half and Konerko put up good numbers. I guess it's 2011-or-bust.

If Kirk Gibson can instill the concept of manufacturing runs and picking out good pitches to swing at, instead of going for the moon, during his first spring training . . . and the FO can move a large amount of strikeouts somewhere else (best wishes, Mark) . . . perhaps 2011 won't be a bust.

I'm not against Konerko in the least. As a one or two year bridge, he'd be a fairly decent signing.

Hoffman? No thanks. Blum, as a bench guy, yes. I'm assuming that's all he's being brought in to be at this point.

Per Gambo's twitter:

John Gambadoro | Phoenix, Arizona If Mark Reynolds is dealt, which I think he will, look for the Orioles to make a big play for him and Dbacks to bring back some bullpen help 4:07 PM Nov 30th

Bobby Jenks got non-tendered.

If I'm Arizona, I jump on signing him like white on rice.

Unfortunately Jay, it all depends on price. With the D'Backs limited payroll budget there's bound to be some team out there that will outbid us. He will have to take a pay cut to come here.

Hopefully they get him for the cost of feeding him after games... Looking at him over the course of a season he could make a team go bankrupt without giving a contract

Not really that big. :) He can be good, but his arm is weakening. He is starting to have longer and longer periods of lost velocity.
