Timberwolves traded their pick to Houston for Chase.

Houston now has #14, #16 and #18.

Wish we had those and Marcus Morris.

Gortat and Dudley for #14,#16,#18 and Morris and whatever contracts they want to dump. :D

It makes me think that Houston may be legitimately going after Howard.

@sam_amick: Source involved in Houston-Kings talks says the Rockets have not offered the No. 14, No. 16 pick and Kyle Lowry for Tyreke Evans and No. 5.

I was surprised that Budinger didn't show more improvement last year. He was starting to come on strong at the end of 2010-11.

Dudley got to be worth considerably more than Buddinger. Better player and good long term contract.

I don't care how good the draft is, teams can seldom develop three rookies at once, let alone four.

Buy a later pick. Keep Gortat.

Give us examples... The reason you say that is because

a) rarely teams have 3 or more first round picks to use
b) rarely do those teams make the correct pick at each spot

Has little to do with developing 3 rookies at once. You always have to develop all of your players anyway..

I remember BOS had 3 firsts a few years back. Did any of those picks turn out? I think Glen Davis was one of the picks, but I don't really remember.

Interesting. Word out of Houston is that Howard would be just the first step in their plan. They would then go ahead hard after DWil.

That leaves Dragic available I would think.

The next few weeks are going to be very interesting. A FO that is really on the ball could make years worth of progress in a few days.

Houston is clearly going for Howard. I seriously doubt they are interested in Gortat and Dudley.

Only if they have assets. The most ingenious front office in the world couldn't turn around the Suns in just this one summer.

Chicago Bulls 1989 drafted 6, 18, 20 (Stacey King, BJ Armstrong, Jeff Sanders)
Chicago Bulls 2000 drafted 4, 7, 24 (Marcus Fizer, Chris Mihm, Dalibor Bagaric)
Minnesota Wolves 2010 drafted 4, 16, 23 (Wes Johnson, Luke Babbit, Trevor Booker)
2009 Minny drafted 5, 6, 28 (Ricky Rubio, Johnny Flynn, Wayne Ellington)

These are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head. It just makes sense to have players of different ages, hitting the ends of contracts at different time rather than the same time.

Ricky Rubio did not come to the NBA until 2012..

Trevor Booker never played for Minnesota.

And the others are just what I said. Of course they are not working out when you draft 3 busts.

Is that like, an argument or something?

Well one of the years Boston had three first round picks they selected Joe Johnson. I don't think the other two picks worked out.

Morey is a genius.

They will try to get Dwight but if they can't get him, their packaging all the picks for Drummond or Robinson.

Don't forget Houstan also has Mav's Top 20 Protected and Knick's Top 5 protected starting next year.

How can the Suns FO compete with Houston's FO?

Well Houstan had the Yao exception so their cap space got cleared out so they started taking on salary for draft picks.

And the Suns are doing what I wonder. I hope they plan to do more than just draft at #13. I know there is free agency but I fear teams like Houston will run circles around them. New York had to even tell the Suns than a trade exception was available for Amare.
