How about Jason Campbell?

Last season, with Santana Moss as his best receiver, Campbell completed just under 65% of his passes, and threw for almost 3700 yards. He's never thrown more INT than TD, he's a decent enough rusher, and has a career rating over 82.

He might be available (UFA), since Shanahan is coming in and might have another idea as to what should be done at that position.

Thoughts?

I live in DC and folks here are down on Campbell and don't really expect him back under Shanahan. He might be better than he looks with the Redskins but I'd rather give Matt a shot.

i'd bring in him if he's released. He'd be good comp for Leinart and very good depth if ML went down. He'd probably look at going somewhere where he'd be assured a starting job, maybe Cleveland or Stl, if there is one out there.

I can see STL drafting a QB, but Brady's the man in Cleveland IMO.

Jason Campbell will be starting somewhere and do very well IMO. he is a solid QB who has just been dealt a horrible hand as a pro. Different coordinators just about every year, a putrid line and up until about 3/4 of the way through this season he had one of the worst groups of receivers in the league every year. I really like him, but I'm sure he will be starting for someone in 2010 and it won't be the Cards.

I believe Campbell might be the starter in Minny if Favre retires. Just my opinion.

In any event. I find it hard that someone that young, with those numbers, will not be given a starting spot somewhere.

Minny has Tavarus and Sage.....they spent a lot of money to bring in Sage last season, and will probably keep Tavarus.

And you think that a team with that much promise, and the REAL ability to go to the Super Bowl will live with those two options at the most important position on the field.

No way my friend.

They will either trade for a good veteran. By a good veteran FA. Or go for a young kid like this who hasn't been given a situation where he can succeed.

I think he'll start for someone because he's a good QB IMO. I really don't think Shanny will dump him. He has a strong arm, is tough as hell, a leader, dedicated, throws as good a deep ball as anyone, can make plays with his legs and is relatively young.

i don't believe he'll be in Arizona because it is the Matt Leinart era now.

Perhaps......but with Favre taking his usual forever-ness to make a decision, we might be able to jump in and scoop him up.

Yes, I said forever-ness.

I hope he succeeds, but I don't see the Whiz as a guy who likes Leinart.....just my opinion......as well as the fact that Ive read the players don't believe in him and their spirits drop when he's in there.

Jason Campbell defines mediocre starter. He's not bad, but he's not that good either. Most of his stats come from garbage time and some of his decisions are terrible and the reason the Redskins were down to begin with. I would rather see what we have in Leinart. He has upside.

Matt will get his shot at running the Cards next season, but like several have said, if we don't fix our issues on the defensive side of the ball it won't mean a hill of beans who our qb is.

Schefter said this morning on Mike and Mike that Shannahan is going to keep Campbell.

Agree with that.

It matters the price with some of the names being thrown around.

I am personally intrigued with bringing in Tyler Thigpen from Mia.
