I saw that the Raiders released Lamont Jordan and thought that he might be a good fit for our offense. Probably not a long term solution as he is right around 29 but doesn't have a ton of milage on him. He has good burst and power though not a burner. He would definitely be an upgrade over Shipp and Hightower, and would ensure that our season doesn't go by the wayside if Edge gets hurt.

At his age we should be able to sign him for a short term deal and it souldn't cost a ton of money. I am not a huge fanof the guy but it makes a little bit of sense with our lack of depth.

To much wear on the tires and you dont know if he will be better than Hightower.

he would be a solid insurance policy and he couldn't be any less trustworthy than shipp or arrington. Sign the man

Jordan has a bad back. Once you get a bad back, it's like herpes. It stays with you for life. The only way I'd like him on the team is if he got minimum pay and we didn't cut anyone worthwhile.

Exactly. So, if he passes a physical, sign him and cut Shipp. I'd wager either Arrington or Hightower would go later in the preseason.

I'd rather have Shaun Alexander. As a change of pace back, why not. The guy can still probably break loose and go the distance.

There may be a few backs that the Cards will consider after week one of the season, as they won't, at that point, have to guarantee the agreement for the whole season.

Jordan and Alexander are not different enough from Edge to warrant bringing them in, IMO. We need a compliment to Edge, not another banger.

Graves has already stated when asked about a few other RBs that hit the market that they didnt have any want to sign a RB that was already similar to the ones they already have, and if he thinks about signing a RB it will be one with Speed.

I think the only way the Cards even think about bringing in a RB that may get cut in the future they will have to be speed backs. Anyone else wont be in our picture.

I guess I still thought that Jordan had the burst that he did in his first year in Oakland. Sometimes it is hard to remember that 2 years for runningbacks is like 5 years for normal players.

I still think that he would be an upgrade over Shipp and could be had for less.

For the life of me, I can't figure out how Shipp has survived this long. Especially with the cap number. That said, I still say "NO" to Lamont Jordan. I think he's toast.

That's surprising to me. I would have thought the Broncos would have been all over him like white on rice.

The Broncos got the ASU rookie Ryan Torain in round 5. Prediction -- He will lead them in rushing this year.

I'd give your left gonad to have Torain on our team. (They say a man only needs one and surely, you'd sacrifice for the team, wouldn't you?)

skorp, I agree and don't understand why we didn't take torrain in the 4th. What were whiz and company thinking during round 4 (my least favorite pick of 08)?

That's what they say, but as we all know, rookies haven't done anything to prove anything. Jordan is a known commodity.

Torian may well do great here in Denver, but then again he might not. Never know.

BTW, for the right player I'd give both my gonads. I'm married; I don't get to use them anyway.

haha. You make a valid point on count one and I'm not commenting on count two (Many women Cards fans read this board.)

Timm Rosenbaugh, I'm not displeased with drafting Hightower, since Ryan Torain went ten picks earlier in round 5 and waasn't available to us at that point.

Like you, I'd have jumped on Torain in round 4. But we both saw a lot of Torain in college and didn't see Iwabema. So I give Steve Kiem and Rod Graves a pass on this.

In your case Skkorp, you'd sacrifice for the team, but I don't think you'd sacrifice your team. Would you?
