For the first time in any of our lives, the Super Bowl will NOT be an excuse to over-eat, get hammered, and critique the commercials. THIS IS A GAME!!! I have no idea how I will behave! Especially with my emotions on display for casual football fans to see ("Why are you yelling Deric? It's only a game. Jeez.")
I almost wish I could just get a hoagie and a six pack and treat it like any other Sunday, but that will be impossible. Nearly everyone who is close to me will be begging to watch the game with me. I will be pacing the damn floor from sun up til game time. And I can't wait. Has it sunk in with you guys yet??!!

Hey Philly...

I just find myself smiling...ALOT!! :D I'm HAPPY for the team and for the MANY Cardinal fans' scattered across the Nation. As for the game itself? I'm just going to let it un-fold. Yeah, I'll be yelling either "GO!!" ...or HIT 'em!! BUT for the MOST part I'm just going to ENJOY it! :D I'm NOT really thinking about WINNING or losing. That's for the coaches & the players. What I am thinking about is what I've waited 41+ years for is NOW a reality! :D

As the Token Cardinal Fan in my City, I've been invited to just about every superbowl party that I know of.

Personally, I'd rather send the wife and kids out for the day, so I can pace back and forth in front of the TV without their comments as to my insanity.

I'll probably be making a brief appearance at a couple of parties in my neighborhood... but I won't be able to stay long.

We'll see. Truth is, I don't really know how I'll react, whether we're up or down.

Go Cards.

My parents have a HUGE Superbowl party every year (like 50-60 people). For the most part everyone there is a Cardinals fan, but probably only about 5-7 are big Cardinal fans and have rooted for them since they got here. I have been going through the same thoughts as you, how am I going to be able to watch this game in front of SOOOO many family and friends. The one thing I can't seem to figure out is, how do I not start tearing up if/when the Cardinals win in front of about 50+ people. Damn that could be awkward....but I will be able to get over it. :)

YOU ARE FULL OF CRAP! And I say that with affection. I've seen the passion in your post on this message board. Oh , you can say you're going to "let the game unfold", but when the game starts , all bets are off. Add to that a nailbiter like last week and you will be screaming like crazY!

You know what was awesome? Not once during the Eagles run did I think the Cards had blown the game. Unlike the 200 other times I just knew we would see them come back.

I was worried however that it would come down to a Rackers FG attempt. :D

Slani, my friend...

You KNOW me too well. :D I think I'm just preparing myself for the out-come. IF the Steelers WIN :( I'll fall back on what we have accomplished. NFC WEST CHAMPIONSHIP/ NFC CHAMPIONSHIP. The George Halas Trophy in our case; (2) banners PROUDLY hanging from the rafters. An INDESCRIBABLE moment watching the MOST confetti I have ever seen falling from the skies. It was like my whole TV screen turned "red". LOL That's IF we lose...

BUT if we WIN?? :D Oh, I'll probably just run around the complex yelling, The Cardinals have WON THE SUPER BOWL! The Cardinals have WON THE SUPER BOWL! They'll probably lock me up! LOL

Honestly, I REALLY think we've got a shot!

I'm gonna watch it the same way I've watched every game during the playoffs... with complete belief that we are going to win.

there is no other way.

MESA! :thud:
My kids are supposed to be at their dad's. No way I'm picking them up before the game. I don't want ANY distractions. None. Zero.

It is going to be so weird; I have always been a casual Super Bowl watcher...more for commercials than the game. This one, I'll be wishing I could fast forward through them because I just won't give a crap what the E*Trade baby has to say.

You know, when I lived in Jersey, my sister and I always had a Super Bowl party. It was always about making the right colored jello shots, decorating the house, making the logos of each team out of construction paper, planning the block pool, getting prizes and planning trivia games and all that other crap. Of course, we watched the game, too, cause we are football fans. The parties were legendary and something that everyone looked forward to.

Since moving to AZ, Super Bowl Sunday has kinda been blah. The first year I watched the game at a bar with a guy I had just started tagging. Last year I had a blast doing a lot of stuff leading up to the game since the SB was in AZ, but gameday itself was just kinda eh.

I don't know what I will do this year, but I CAN tell you that I am super glad that I live in AZ now. It's nice to be surrounded by Cards fans, even if we have some jumpers on board. :)

Tag a Card fan during halftime. It can't hurt! :)

Phillycard, bro...as Kurt Warner said today (paraphrased):

Guys need to know that even though there are tons of parties this week, they need to understand once they slip that ring on, they will be VIP at any party they want, from now on.

So watch that game with baited breath, and keep that yingding and champagne coooold. It will be poppin, and we'll be winning.

True NSDF, the build up is worth savoring. I just know I'll be a wreck come the hour leading up to kickoff. There is going to be so much good food at my party. I'll probably not be able to enjoy any of it.

I think I will be too embarrassed to show up at a party, for I just might make people scared of me...

Before we got tickets to the game, I had everyone on shun. I did NOT want to watch the game with anyone but my wife and abomb and his wife. I did not want to have people watching me pace the floor, be a complete ass, rewind plays, fast forward through monkeys dancing with unicorn commercials and all that jazz....

We got SO many invites to parties and I didn't want to go to any of them. I wanted to watch in near solitude, only with people who UNDERSTAND the importance of this game.

And now I will. With abomb beside me in Tampa, Cheese and Ouchie and crew behind us, and other ASFNers all through our row within easy shouting distance.

I can't even begin to understand how amazing this Super Bowl trip is going to be. It has been a dream for me to attend the World Series game with my team playing (did so on my birthday, Dbacks won), a Super Bowl with my team playing (happening now, Cards will win) and an NBA Finals game with my team playing (hasn't happened yet).

But the cream of the crop, the one I never thought I'd get to do, is the Super Bowl. And it is HAPPENING!!!!

No parties for me this year.

Just the wife and me. Just like ever other game this year.

I don't think I would be too social with a Cardinals game of this magnitude on TV anyway.

Still looking forward to it.

I organised a SB party before the start of the season; unfortunately, as the party was organised at my house, I now have everyone coming over to watch the game. :bang:

For the Eagles game I only had the other half watching me pacing the floor, stressing and, at the end, shedding a few tears. I have since taken the precaution of warning those coming over for the SB in advance that I can't be held responsible for my behaviour!
Really, if I can't watch the big game with other Cards fans, I would have liked to watch it on my own.

That said, I can't wait for Sunday; everytime I remember we are playing in the SB I feel so nervous and excited at same time. Go Cards!!
