Voskuhl turned out to be a very polarizing player on this board. Some of us appreciated his scrappiness and fairly good fundamentals for defense and rebounding, the result of real college training, which most of the Suns lack. Others decried his weak offensive game and "short arms," which are allegedly what prevent him from being a real force on either end of the floor.

Edit: Oh, right, and the moving screens. How could I forget? Those were indeed annoying.

I suspect that, in order to get him, the Suns would merely have to ask. The Bucks have Bogut, Gadzuric, and now Yi. Voskuhl makes $3 million in this, the last year of his deal. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the Bucks were willing to trade Voskuhl and a bit of cash for a future conditional second-round pick. (The Suns would accommodate Voskuhl's salary under the Thomas exception; it is very slightly too large to fit within the Jones exception.)

Didn't Voskuhl sign as a free agent this summer for a 1 year, 3 million dollar deal?

Ah, could be, that sounds vaguely familiar. That makes him untradeable for a while, right? December 15 or something?

I have a feeling Steve Kerr went through the same thought process we did, then went "Oh, screw it. Jake Voskuhl isn't worth this much effort."

Amost everyone loved Jake's effort and he did seem to do better in Charlotte. The problem with Jake was:

1. Consistently slow on his defensive rotations, leading to fouls.

2. After swtiches would end up out at the arc trying to guard perimeter guys and getting dumb fouls.

3. Moving screens because he did not get in position quick enough

4. Was very easily shoved under the basket when going for contested rebounds.

5. Not very good hands when it came to catching the ball.

I soured on Voskuhl because I never felt he worked hard enough in the off season to get strong enough and/or quick enough to be a defensive force. With his limited offensive skills, his lack of physical strength was a real turnoff to me.

And he would lose you two posessions every game, no matter how many minutes he played, on moving screens.

That was Steph's fault. He does that to all big men. He moves before the screen is set.
