Roberts was good for us, but he was already being replaced during the season.

I think in place of Roberts we need to get a speed receiver. Either in draft or FA. Personally I want Ted Ginn, Jr.

Doesn't Roberts also have a gimpy knee? I want to say it increasingly was bothering him the last year+. Glad he got his payday, because imo he was never in our plans to re-sign with us.

Yea, never in mine either as a long term player, but he was a solid #3.

Start Kevin Minter and support him.

Enjoy that Jaron Brown may make those clutch catches that Roberts would drop at least one of a game.

So if you meant player transaction wise, then nothing. The void is already filled

It not going to be hard to replace Dansby and Roberts. Dansby is overrated. Once he is paid then it is back to his average play.

You are half right which is better than usual so congrats. :)

BA prefers two TE sets over 3 WR sets so Roberts wasn't needed. A speed WR is what is needed. Good luck to Andre as he was a solid 3rd rd pick for us.

Dansby has put up great numbers pretty much every year in his career. The fact that BASK stated they wanted him back and offered a very good contract is evidence that Los is very good. Then factor in the Browns out bid us to get him and that's another FO that thinks he is good.

You really don't have any evidence what so ever to back up you uniformed opinion that Los isn't any good.

Back to the OP, Roberts is truly not a loss because he isn't a speed merchant and BA uses two TE sets more than 3 WR sets. I've heard several experts say this draft is incredibly deep at WR and one went on to say that several undrafted WR's this year will earn roster spots.

Los will be missed. Minter better be what SK thought he was picking him in the 2nd rd. Even if Minter is everything SK hoped for he still won't play at the level Los did this past year.

This means the SS position must be upgraded and a fast LB who is good in pass coverage needs to be drafted,

I am pretty certain Minter is not going to be able to play like Karlos Dansby did last season.

How much the defense will suffer remains to be seen. Still a pretty damn good defense regardless, IMO

We had a good D before Los got here and we will have a good D after Los. We had a good D with Ray Hoton and we had a good D without him. A serious Pass Rusher in the draft or another CB in R1 will make us all the better. A little Safety help from Chris Clemons would be nice too. I trust SK to bring them in and for BA/TB to coach them up.

As long as the Cards have Peterson, Dockett, Campbell, Dan Williams, and DWash (and Acho imo) they'll have a good defense. One thing in our favor is that ILB is one position where a young player can have an impact right away.

Los is good but make no mistake the best ILB on this team from last year is still on the roster. We need to add a safety and OLB what if a guy like Anthony Barr slides? Then your defense is looking scary

There are some pass rushers out there with Peppers, Ware, Woodley & Allen. I know ARZ could nab a pass rusher Round 1 now with Veldheer in the fold but what if they go CB or S? I don't think there will be a pass rusher in Round 2 better than what's available in FA.

There's also the possibility that the Cards could trade one or two of their 27 OLBs for a player to fill one of the spots.

Replace Roberts with anyone... He is a dime a dozen receiver. FA possibility could be Lance Moore. Draft a kid like Brown.

Dansby: minter and get Woodley.

Who has value to be traded?

Acho, Okafor, Alexander, Shaughnessy, Abraham, Smith, Jones, Adams, Benson, Carlson, Daniels, Edwards, Fouche, Garner, Hamilton, Imam, Jackson, Kalil, Lemual, Matson, Norman, Paulson, Quarrels, Roderick, Stevens, Terlington, Ungar, Vangor, Watson, Xavier, Younkles, Zoful.

I think that's all of them. But there are so many I may have missed one or two.

I hope we re sign Winston to complete the online. I wouldn't mind LB Woodyard to compete with minter. He's good in coverage. Ted Ginn, Henry Melton, Chris Clemons, Sproles are some guys I think we should look at.

Dansby gone
Roberts gone

What do we do?

Just don't panic our new front office. coaches and GM will finally bring us a super Bowl contender. Dansby went for the money, Roberts was average at best. We have people like, Peterson, and others to resign. Plus we have the Draft. With us signing our LT of the Future we can go in a different direction than we previously taught.

I'm interested to see who the Cards pick up to replace Brinkley and Minter. If Minter is going to be the starter there are now two spots open for 2nd team ILB.

Anyone have any thoughts on who Arizona may get to fill the back up ILB roles? Do they feel Kenny Demens can do the job? Maybe pick up a guy like Akeem Jordan from KC?

I believe they will try to find a "coverage LB" in free agency, and a "thumper" in the late rounds/UDFA of the draft. If anything at all.

I would not be surprised to see Tedd Ginn Jr. come into town at some point. Jaron Brown did a good job in his role as the possession receiver off the bench, and Arians is looking for speed, so I would think that would be the direction they go in. Also, IMHO, the Cardinals will keep either Brittan Golden or Teddy Williams as the 5th WR on the roster regardless of whomever else they bring in.

Just speculation on my part of course.

I don't think the Cards will go into the 2014 season with only Minter, Washington and Demens at ILB so I do expect them to look for at least one more. Maybe somebody like Avery Williamson of Kentucky as a 6th or 7th round selection or Caleb Lavey of Ok State 7th or UDFA.

Cardiac, Ray Lewis was a great player. Dansby is not. Here are your stats that you cherish so much. Dansby is a merc. He goes to the highest bidder to play. Which team does Dansby have a better chance of winning a championship, Browns or Cardinals. Dansby will not have another season like 2013.

So I guess Fitzgerald isn't a great player because his stats don't match up to Jerry Rice. Of course not.

But as long as we are comparing Dansby to Lewis...

First 5 years in the NFL regular season:

Lewis 16 Sacks Dansby 24.5 sacks
Lewis 9 INTs Dansby 9 INTs
Lewis 0 TDs Dansby 2 TDs
Lewis 2 FF Dansby 10 FF

(Interceptions in the Super Bowl: Dansby 1 Lewis 0)

First 10 years in NFL regular season:

Sacks Dansby 38 Lewis 23
Interceptions Dansby 15 Lewis 21
Touchdowns Dansby 4 Lewis 1
Forced fumbles Dansby 17 Lewis 7

Stats are from profootball-reference and nfl.com. Note that stats from the 1990s are not always accurate.

Dansby is a mercenary but that doesn't mean he isn't a very, very good linebacker. Heck 3 different teams have now paid him millions to play for them.
