The Washington Commanders offseason has been largely successful so far. They've brought in some key pieces to help them get to the next level in 2025. Trading for Deebo Samuel and Laremy Tunsil bolstered the offense by giving Jayden Daniels another weapon to target and also giving him extra protection along the line. They've added other players and let a few go, too, but which move had the most impact on what the Commanders will do in the 2025 NFL draft?

CBS Sports says that the Commanders' trade for Laremy Tunsil will have the fourth-highest impact on the draft.

Offensive tackle had been a common association with Washington in the first round. The presence of an established veteran like Tunsil opens the door for the franchise to address other positions of need at No. 28 overall. Meanwhile, Houston is now shopping for help along the offensive line to protect C.J. Stroud.

The Commanders also acquired wide receiver Deebo Samuel from San Francisco, which drastically reduced the likelihood of general manager Adam Peters using a first-round pick on the position.

The Commanders were very likely to address their offensive line in the first round of the draft had they not traded for Tunsil. But they did trade for him, and now they don't need to do that. This leaves them open to select the best available player remaining, whomever that may be, or they can trade down for extra draft capital so that they can add depth to the roster.

The remaining needs to be filled include an edge rusher, depth at linebacker, and depth at skill positions. But the biggest takeaway here is that they don't have to use their first-round pick on an offensive lineman. Unless they want to.
