How important is this year's first found pick?

A very few of us, okay --me--, don't believe yet that we have our QBOF. Leinart gets hurt picking his nose.

I knew that thread you posted wasn't meant to "shake the board up." Thanks for making that crystal clear.

The vibe I got from Smith vs. Florida was that he trying to play for the NFL and not to win the NC. He seemed so deadset on remaining in the pocket despite the ease of the Florida line blowing by his protection.

He must not have watched Vince Young in the national championship game last year.

How many games did Leinart miss due to injury last year? In college?

No. I like Quinn but I prefer Jamarcus Russell. More athletic and more upside. I like them both better than Leinart for many reasons but mainly because I think Matt is fragile. He's not tough enough for the NFL.

I'd trade them all for Philip Rivers.

I'd take Matt over Russell. I think people fall in love with arm strength but if you made a list of the top QB's I've seen play the only guys on the list with a cannon would be Favre and Elway, and both of them were much more mobile than Russell. Elway struggled for years until Shanahan got ahold of him. Russell can be a good NFL QB but I've seen him look awfully ordinary in several games against good teams, much like Quinn in essentially every game he faced a good defense this year.

I don't think toughness is the issue, Matt gets hit and gets right back up, the problem is injury history and that has nothing to do with toughness.
Shoulder surgery, elbow surgery, concussions those aren't things you can just "tough out."

Anquan is as tough as nails and has a history of injuries too.

Troy Smith demonstrated on Monday night that he will not be picked to be a QB in the NFL...Heisman to Troy Smith was a joke and if OS was not considered so dominant BEFORE the game, he would not have gotten the votes. OVERRATED!

I should have included the :sarcasm:

Skorpp has stated that Leinart was not a QBoF, and that Troy Smith was.

That's an interesting senario you float out there. I think Russell and Quinn go one, two... but stranger things have happened. If they don't and one falls I'd go Russell but not Quinn over Leinart. I question his durability as well , but he seems tough enough. Anyway the Cards' brass chance to pick a different franchise Qb in the 1st will be less than nill as they are probobly smitten with Leinart. Russell would be awsome though. I'd take him and get a 1st and 2nd this yr. or a 1st this yr. and next, moving Leinart.

You guys are crazy. I want everyone to remember WildBB and Skorrp when Matt is in the Pro Bowl next year. You are worried about his durability? He was healthy at SC all three years and even if he wasn't he played through it and played well. He only missed one game this year and that because one of our idiot offensive lineman let him get drilled to the turf. As it stands he would have likely played the next week if there was a game and had something been on the line he might have played that week. It was not a serious injury....Its not like it it was microfracture, right Skorrp?;) ;) ;)

How could you be a serious fan of this team and be so delusional about how good we have it? Makes no sense to me. You want to go for a physical freak like Russell (Bust! - has anyone ever actually seen him go through a progression?) or Quinn (who IMO has much less fire and moxie and is a product of Weis's system) for a kid who many publications graded out as the best rookie QB in a year where there were three other good ones. Oh and we have actually seen how he played against NFL comp too!To me this is an example of Cardinal fans being cynical -no good will happen to me- wobegone fans

Matt is the truth. Free your mind and believe.

No kidding. I wanted to pull the BS card when he said he started that thread to change the topic.

Actually, I did do it to shake up the board. It is also true that I have reservations about Leinart. I'm not impressed yet.

Matt is no Brett Favre, impervious to pain and injury. Quite the opposite. He had shoulder problems in college and in one pro year, managed to dislocate one shoulder and hurt the other badly enough to end his season. He wasn't hit much either.

Jamaal Anderson....FTW!

I know Jamal because I have watched him sack the opposition for the past few years. Not only is he a force but he is a good guy and not a primadona. Kipper has him going at #5 right where we are. All SEC. Led the conference in sacks and is really fast. Tough to keep him out of the backfield due to his speed and footwork. He only made his decison to go pro this week. I watched his press conference when he made the decision. I certainly think we would not go wrong with Jamaal Anderson if we want a defensive end of the first order. He will be an impact player his first year.

That makes it sound like Matt missed more that just the last game of the year.

I soured on Russell when Chris Landry went on FOX sports radio and hammered on him for his laziness and lack of desire to improve.

Wow, I actually agree with John H.
