How long before Diamondbacks win World Series # 2

well, with the Marlins winning the World Series, I wonder how long it will be before Jerry Colangelo pieces together a team like the Marlins. I wonder if it will be within 5 yrs, 10, or 20.

Soon.

He has to go low budget for the next 3 years or so to pay off the deferments. But that will just give all those youngsters a chance to grow and develop.

I can't remember where I read it but, rumour has it that St. Louis is willing to trade Drew, Edmunds to possibly 3 NL teams. One of those teams is AZ, the others possibly LA or Houston, something like that.

I would love to see the Diamondbacks pull off a Mantei for Trot Nixon trade. That would be sweet. Mantei for a power right fielder would be nice also.

This team is heading down the right track, but if they do win one in the near future I think it might have to be this coming up year.

Johnson+Schilling= A chance if healthy and dominant
Add Webb to that and it's a stud front 3.

As long as we have those three we have a chance, but we won't have those three forever.

I would like Edmunds but who do you give up to get him? I think that a Mantai trade could bring us a quality #4 batter. Who that might be i don't know, but I hope he plays right field.

What is interesting about the Marlins is that they have had only two winnings seasons in franchise history - and won the WS both times. And both times as the Wild Card.

If RJ and Curt (in probably his final season as a D'back) can stay healthy; if we can add a power bat; if we settle on a lineup which makes use of our players' skills; and if the new Coaches can influence the team to manufacture runs, we can take it all next year.

When I said at the beginning of the post-season that I was rooting for the Marlins, it was for two reasons:

-- Twice the number of World Championships as the Braves over the past decade-plus; and

-- As incentive for our D'backs . . . next season.

let me tell you something. I was never a Yankee fan, but this time I was cheering for them.

because, well before we beat them in the 2001 World Series, I was beginning to wonder if anybody would ever beat them. So we did!!

I was cheering for them because that would make our 2001 World Series championship all the more meaning. I don't know, but, I wonder if we caught the Yankees at the end of their dynasty. I mean the way the Angels handled them last year in the ALDS & then the way the went down in the World Series, they just seemed deflated, out of gas. Didn't care.

They Yankees of let's say '98, or '99, 2000, were unstoppable, the Yankees in '02 & '03, looked hopelessly spent.

Since game 7 vs. the D'backs Rivera and the Yankees have not been the same. They are still very good but I think they lost the aura a little.

Some may argue it was simply good timing. It makes no difference.

I don't think that championship could be any better.

I completely agree. I look at it this way - WE ENDED THE YANKEES.

Yes we did and made their owner spend over $200 million for 2003 and still didn't win.

The $200 million is their 180 million salary and the 50 or 60 million in luxry tax.

The Dbacks really went out on a limb to position themselves to win that title. For this reason I am willing to be patient with this team and the organization. I understand that we may now have to pay for the World Series for a few years by paying off deferments and developing young players.

Was it worth it?

Ask any Cubs or Red Sox fan.
