Nash has already said he doesn't want to be here if the Suns rebuild. Well, I don't know if the Suns have the parts to rebuild, but I think they will do their best impersonation starting as soon as draft day. I see Nash leaving as foregone conclusion. Nash has to see the Suns falling apart just like the fans. I just wish the Suns could get some value for him in a trade rather than just buy him out. I'd like to see Nash go to Toronto because of his fans there.

The best thing that could happen to this team is that Sarver sells the Suns and Kerr returns to television.

Drop Nash's final year and renew it for 8M * 3 years. That equals to 13 + 2 years MLE.

Drop Shaq's final year and renew it for 13M * 2 years. That equals to 20 + 1 year MLE.

It works perfectly under league rule, together, shed our payroll by 12M, and a couple of million luxury tax. Then we can use all our exceptions to add free agents and a proven coach in summer. Probably good enough for us to have a final shot next season.

Nash's option is partially guaranteed from what I remember. If the Suns don't pick up the option, they'll still being paying about 50% of his salary to play for another team next season. I doubt Sarver will be down with that. I could see him going in a draft day trade or in a trade sometime in the offseason. I don't think he'll be back next year I'm pretty sure the Suns will look to trade Shaq at all costs as well.

There is no point in wasting the last few years of his his career on a team that is on the decline hard. Let him go play in the East somewhere, and get something in return for him, so we can begin to move on from this era.

Yes, Nash is so bad defensively that even in the games he doesn't play the opposing PG gets a career high against us (see Feb. 11 game vs. Cavs with Barbosa starting at PG). Fortunately enough our brilliant GM Steve Kerr had the presence of mind to draft his successor Dragic, so we are all set at the PG position for years to come.

Yes, your approach was so much better.

I don't think the Suns have the players (trading chips) to successfully blow up the team and properly rebuild through the draft or by adding some good young players (especially with Amare's eye injury). I think Amare was the only Suns player that used to have some major trade value. However, I do believe the Suns will try to move some major pieces of the team nevertheless after this season. Therefore, I do not even see Nash wanting to stay with the Suns under these conditions.

The Suns desperately need a new GM if Sarver does not sell the Suns but I guess neither will happen. The Suns may take many years to rebuild especially without their 2010 first round pick which will probably be a lotto pick. Who knows what's going to happen with the coaching position if the Suns aren't willing to pay for a veteran coach.
