How much should we tender Wilson?

Teams can tender their restricted free agents at three different levels. The top tender is $1.824 million, which would bring first- and third-round picks if a team signed that player and the offer was not matched. The next level is $1.368 million, which would bring a first-round pick if the offer were not matched, and the lowest one is $628,000, which would bring a draft pick commensurate to the round in which the player entered the league.

Then for the second part of the question would you let him go for any of those compensations we would get if another team makes an offer.

I said a 1st rounder, but that is if he makes the shift to CB, or if they move him back to safety (which probably wont happen).

Do we get the compensatory pick this year? If not, getting a first round pick for Wilson next year instead o this year wouldn't be enough. Loss of a season is valuable and must be factored in. If this was the case, we'd need to give him the top tender. But if we'd get the first round oick this year, I'd tag him with the mid-level one.

I'd give him the max in case he is picked up by another team and then move him to corner.

Adrian Wilson is the biggest screwup on this team. He blows coverages and shows no natural ability to play safety. Then when he finally does make a play, he gloats and struts.

If he shows the same incompetence at CB, he'll be gone by the end of August.

Adrian has size, speed, and the football brain of a titmouse.

Agreed. A third round pick would be a good trade for him at this point.

I agree that we should try to entice someone into giving us anything for him. I think the odds of him being a good CB are miniscule.

Becaue at 600K he would still make for a decent backup/role player in certain situations. And if someone does happen to pick him up, then thanks for the pick and good luck.

Why would anyone pick-up someone who is being described on this board a million dollar body with a two cent coconut on top? Anybody that bad couldn't possibly fit into any situation... and no team would be dumb enough to invest a third round pick.

(I happen to think that come September he'll be our starting Strong safety, by the way)

1000% agree, he hasnt' shown me anything at Safety, and I'm actually looking for something to give him the benefit of the doubt, I truly hope he develops into a decent corner, and at Safety, lets HOPE for Taylor, he would help us the most immediately, and I hope that's what Denny is going to do.

A new Strong Safety would help us more than a pass-rush; a shutdown corner - a third wideout to complement Quan and BJ - you've got to be kidding!

I'm with you on this one....no way does a saftey help us as much as an impact DE that can get the QB. And drafting at #3 you will get the best at WR. and at DE. Why would anyone want to stay there and take a saftey. Even if he was Ronnie Lott. Trade down maybe but not a saftey at 3. The Wr. first then a DT or De would make more sence.

Prisco seems to think Wilson will get some attention from other teams this year.

For restricted players such as McCareins, Carolina receiver Steve Smith, Baltimore linebacker Edgerton Hartwell, Rams quarterback Marc Bulger, Dolphins defensive end Adewale Ogunleye and Giants corner Will Peterson, expect to see high tenders on all of them. They aren't going anywhere.

But players like Titans receiver Drew Bennett, Ravens guard Bennie Anderson, Ravens fullback Alan Ricard, Colts guard Rick DeMulling, Colts tackle Ryan Diem, Jets tackle Kareem McKenzie and Cardinals safety Adrian Wilson might not get the high tenders in part because some of their teams have cap issues. They could be attractive.

If the Cardinals give Wilson a low tag, he would cost a third-round pick to get him signed if Arizona did not match the offer. For a young rising player, one with two good years as a starter on his resume, that would be worth the risk.

I'd be satified if we were to get a 3rd for Wilson. There is a lot of talent in the draft this year that I think it'd be worth it.

Wilson came out of College early, and many have said that he'd have been a first rounder if he had stayed in school. Now, with just two years of experience, we'd give up on him for a third rounder. That makes little to no sense to me. Believe me, if we tender him low, some team will make a move.

Furthermore, the silliness of us picking a Safety with our third pick aside, who is going to play Strong Safety this year?

Selective memory...Cant win if a guy blows coverage and gives up 1 or 2 td's again by himself.
