I wouldn't pay him top dollar. I know he has produced lately, but there is no way that he could take a whole season as the #1 back and kick returner, much less a #1 back.

He's a flash in the pan at just the right time and he will be laughing all the way to the bank. I'm happy for him, just not for the Cardinals to spend on.

Forget Sproles and keep JJ.

Go after Haynesworth.

While I agree he is definitely not an every-down back, he is also not a "flash in the pan"... Not at all suggesting we take a run at him. I can't believe SD would let him get away, particularly with LT on the downside and a year removed from letting Turner getting away.

We don't need an every down back. A RB by committee approach with Hightower getting 5-10 carries a game JJ or Sproles getting 5-10 and other FA/Draft pick getting 5-10 would be fine by me. Or even Hightower getting 15 and Sproles/JJ getting about 10 could work IF Hightower learns to hit holes faster. Sproles has shown he can handle about 10 carries a game.

With our line, it'd be a horrid investment. Sproles excels in the Chris Johnson platoon role, and to paying him feature back money with someone like Breadtruck as his complimentary back is not the best idea. Unlike Turner (who I felt could be a feature back), I don't think you can expect production like this postseason over an entire season. Now, if you can afford Sproles with a line upgrade and take a big back in the first or second round (Chris Wells, Shonne Greene, etc.) then it'd make some sense. This is not a Chester Taylor or Michael Turner situation.

I don't understand the recent sentiment of fans not wanting a feature back in favor of a two-back system. I'd rather have one great back than two good ones.

I wasnt thinking of Sproles as a featureback...I didnt say that. If he is too much money then so be it, but Hightower and Sproles would be a nice 1 2 combo if the price is right.

Hightower and Sproles = mediocre 1-1.5 punch. Breadtruck is a wasteman at this point.
