April 28, 2005) -- We won't get a true sense of how all the teams did in the 2005 NFL Draft for a few years, but that doesn't stop everyone from criticizing or complaining about how the teams picked.
I asked six veteran football writers to evaulate each team's selections. All six are regulars at the NFL Scouting Combine, where they have a chance to interview and meet most of the players who get drafted. They also have contacts with "team people" who they talk with at the combine and before the draft, which gives them a very good idea how most of the players drafted were rated. These six are from all areas of the country and have been working the NFL beat for a number of years.
As you will note, the panel was in concurrance on some teams (Minnesota, Seattle) and differed greatly on others (Jacksonville, Tampa Bay).
KEY
RG -- Rick Gosselin, Dallas Morning News
KM -- Ken Murray, The Sun (Baltimore)
MO -- Mike O'Hara, Detroit News
DP -- Dan Pompei, The Sporting News
PP -- Pete Prisco, CBS SportsLine.com
CW -- Cheran Williams, Fort Worth Star-Telegram
Could'nt get the chart to show up correctly so.
