In a few hours, we'll know who, when and where Michigan State hockey will be playing in the NCAA Tournament.

The official NCAA Tournament bracket for men's hockey will be released on Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. ET. The selection show will be televised on ESPNU.

Michigan State secured an automatic bid into the tournament with an overtime victory over Ohio State in Saturday night's Big Ten Tournament championship game. The Spartans also won the conference regular season crown and were considered a lock for the NCAA Tournament heading into last night's title game with the Buckeyes.

The teams selected for the NCAA Tournament have already been finalized due to the Pairwise Rankings. Here's a list of those 16 teams:

  • Boston College
  • Michigan State
  • Maine
  • Western Michigan
  • Minnesota
  • UConn
  • Boston University
  • Providence
  • Denver
  • Ohio State
  • UMass
  • Penn State
  • Quinnipiac
  • Minnesota State
  • Cornell
  • Bentley

The Spartans are considered by many as a lock to be the No. 1 seed in the Toledo Region for the NCAA Tournament. But we'll find out the official draw soon. Bracketology from USCHO.com has Michigan State facing Cornell in the first round with a matchup against the winner of Boston University and Ohio State should the Spartans advance.
