After a heartbreaking loss to Michigan State in the Big Ten Tournament last weekend, the Ohio State men's hockey team will begin its quest for a NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Championship. The Buckeyes earned a No. 3 seed in the Toledo Regional and will face the Terriers of Boston University, the No. 2 seed in the same bracket.
Boston University is 21-13-2 on the season. The Buckeyes and Terriers didn't play many common opponents but did face a couple in Michigan and Notre Dame. Boston lost both matches to the Wolverines and beat the Irish in their lone game. For comparison's sake, OSU was 4-0 against Notre Dame and split 2-2 with Michigan. Ohio State should have a slight home-ice advantage as Toledo is just a short drive from Columbus.
As if the opening round wasn't hard enough, should the Buckeyes topple the Terriers, they most likely will get a rematch with the Big Ten Champion Michigan State Spartans. The Spartans earned the No. 1 seed in the Toledo Regional. But let's not get ahead of ourselves as the Bucks have a tough task ahead in the first round.

Prediction - Ohio State 4, Boston University 3: This will be no easy task for the Buckeyes. The Terriers are ranked No. 8 in the country and OSU is ranked No. 9. Boston has a slightly higher goals per game than Ohio State, but the Buckeyes allow fewer goals per game. The game could easily go either way, but we'll give the nod to the Buckeyes with the ever-so-slight home-ice advantage.
