The Oklahoma baseball team hosts its first-ever Southeastern Conference series Friday through Sunday as Mississippi State visits L. Dale Mitchell Park.
The No. 10 Sooners won their inaugural SEC series last weekend, taking two out of three on the road against South Carolina. Mississippi State, however, is the best team OU will have faced since the Round Rock Classic in late February when the Sooners beat then-No. 2 Virginia in the round-robin finale.
Mississippi State lost all three games on SEC opening weekend, falling to No. 11 Texas. But the last-place Bulldogs aren't like when OU played the last-place team in the Big 12. The SEC has been considered the best college baseball conference in the country for most of the last 15 to 20 years. MSU won a national championship just four years ago to boot.
Kyson Witherspoon, the No. 9 prospect in this summer's MLB Draft, will get the ball for Game 1, while Cade Crossland is set for Game 2 on Saturday, and Malachi Witherspoon will go for the Sooners in the series finale on Sunday.
Here's everything you need to know about each team's coach, key players and how to watch, stream and listen this weekend.
