If the strike lasted all season how would they know how the order of selection for an upcoming draft would be?

Can't imagine that there would not be a draft. There will still be eligible players. Would they wait until after the next full season, even if it 2012-13, to have a draft? They would need a draft just to start to rebuild interest in the league again.

So much for those 2012 draft picks that were traded around.

that's an interesting question. how could there be no draft... even if they lost the season? I'd assume all the teams would be in the lottery... and the Lakers would win.

Here's how the NHL did it after their strike year. The number one pick that year was Sidney Crosby so it was a pretty big deal.

The loss of the 2004–05 season meant that there were no results on which to base the order of the 2005 entry draft. The league settled on a lottery system in which all teams had a weighted chance at the first pick, expected to be Sidney Crosby. The lottery was tilted so teams with fewer playoff appearances over the last three seasons and fewer number one overall picks over the last four seasons had a better chance of landing higher picks. The complete order was determined by the lottery, and the 2005 draft was conducted in a "snake" style, meaning in even rounds, the draft order was reversed. This system was an attempt to compromise between those who felt all teams should have had an equal chance at the first pick and those who felt only the weaker teams should have been in the running.

They could just do the same lottery again. Same teams in, same weighted chances. However the ping pong balls go.

That would totally suck because we should be worse next year.

Plus Andre Drummond is the next Amare Stoudemire only bigger absolutely franchise player talent at the 4/5 spot. Imagina Amare Stoudemire with the size of Dwight Howard.

I was hyping him a year ago already.

I mean sure there should still be Anthony Davis, Harrison Barnes, Perry Jones, James McAdoo, Austin Rivers, Marquis Teague, Quincy Miller, LeBryan Nash, Michael Gilchrist, Myck Kabongo, Jeremy Lamb, Josiah Turner etc in next years draft but they pale in comparison to Drummonds upside imo.
Next year is the best year you can imagine to have 2-3 first round picks.

This also means good players will likely be pushed down into the second round. If the Suns could garner some second round picks they might be able to get some talented players that might be good down the road.

Defensively this guy worries me. His strengths appear to be perimeter defense but struggles with keeping guys in front of him and they say he needs to learn to move his feet. Also, he has to put on some weight because at his current weight he is going to get pushed around.

He was 54th in the Big East in steals. Should fit right in around here with players who love offense but will probably struggle at the next level on defense.

Absolutely not, he is an outstanding defense talent. He has incredibly long arms and very good size for a SG.

How is 54th in steals and scouts saying he needs to learn to move his feet because he has trouble keeping penetrating type players in front of him oustanding??

I think you mean potential and that I will give you. I think he might have some size issues and with guys being quicker in the NBA might still have a problem staying in front of people.

Steals are not a good indicator for defense.

Anyway aside from Lamb there are some other good SG prospects in the draft.

Rivers and Beal are a bit short, then you add in Tim Hardaway Jr.
