How would you handle the Patriots?

Somehow they will fail. Something will defeat them. Life will defeat them. There is something in the universe--I don't know, some spirit, some principle--that they will never overcome. I don't know. the spirit of man.

this ain't the movies Gambit. "Evil" (if that's what people want to look at the Pats as) wins over good all the time in the real world.

people keep saying Brady's gonna get cheap-shotted and I have to ask those people - are you watching these games? There's no one with a MILLION MILES of Brady to even get close enough to projectile spit on the guy. I mean someone would have to not only risk a 15 yard penalty, but a possible league suspension considering how late of a hit the play would have to be for Brady to even get touched at this point.

He has been sacked ten times this year, and I'm sure he's been hit other times. And all it takes is once. That kind of happenstance is the only way the Patriots don't win the Super Bowl this year.

In answer to the question, I can think of two ways I would handle the Patriots. First, I would bring Conrad Dobler in as a special assistant for the week, and we would work on ways of doing anything and everything in and outside of the rules. We'd drill on the best way to injure defensive linemen with quasi-legal blocks. We'd drill on the best way to make it look like you're falling and out of control while aiming at Tom Brady's knees the way Wilfork hit Losman. We'd study Mike Vrabel's techniques on diving at the knees of offensive linemen. And we'd mug the receivers at the line of scrimmage. We'd turn the game into a brawl, because there's no way anyone wins a football game against these supremely talented jerks.

The second way? I'd forfeit. Why take the chance on injuries in a game that's lost before it starts?

"Evil" won in the thing I was quoting [I guess technically paraphrasing] from, too. :)

And besides, evil will always triumph, because good is dumb.

I would play a 2-2-7 Formation. 5 Defenders man to man with 4 others in zone converage.

Brady has a better QB rating when he is blitzed then he does when teams dont blitz him.

Also lots of eye pocking in any kind of scrum.

I would play a 3-4 defense against them. On offense I try to eat up as much time on the clock by playing small ball.

Pitt, if completely healthy might have a chance as they can run the ball (eat time off the clock), and they have the athletes on defense... However, even that is a HUGE stretch...

I can't wait to watch that game. I wonder if the Steelers have started preparing already.

The Cardinals could beat NE.

New England revolves around Tom Brady, so you have to confuse him.

Let Rolle do just what he did to Carson Palmer, you have to take away the deep things, play the run with just 7 guys and you have to add one spy who studies film out his butt.

Basically you have to wait until he's done making his read and scoot into a guessed throwing lane and pick the ball.

Moss you have to double the entire game then you spy based on film study.

They're over rated, too many teams play them straight up just like the thread starter stated.

The Rolle factor is and will be huge, Clancy is very innovative, you'd be suprised how close it could be if we played them.

The reason I think they'd still kill us is Moss though, mostly he's just a freak of nature and there isn't anything short of a tire iron that would stop him.
