Ok i'm a BIG HT fan but I was thinking the way he runs and finds contact plus his proven pass blocking would he be a good part time blocking back for BW?
this would allow us to have both in the backfield together alot more and the defence would have to honour HT running ability

thoughts?

Im not a big fan of it. With the emergence of our run game, we need someone to plow the road for us. Kreider has been an integral part of that, even though he is much maligned on this board. He's been out the last two games with Wright attempting to fill the void with no success. Plus, Timmy is part of the two headed monster along with Beanie to spell each other and have fresh legs going into the 4th quarter.

The occasional two back set in passing situations is fine, but to have Timmy as full time FB is not a good idea. When we had Centers at FB, we had a great receiving threat, but we still could not run the ball worth beans.

I wasn't really thinking of HT as a permanent FB but if he could spell at it it would mean we had a double running threat in the backfield
So motion either out of the backfield and we still have a legit running threat there and either still can go out for a pass
and if HT could act as a reasonable FB we could still run our iso plays and power G
all options are open to us!!

I am definitely in favor of having both Hightower and Wells in the backfield at the same time, occaisonally (more than they have so far). I think we might see it more during the playoffs.

Any position where he doesn't get to touch/fumble the ball is an upgrade :raccoon:

Even with an ISO play, you still need a good lead blocker. Timmy does not have the kind of strength to open up running lanes.

The duel HB threat IMO would only work in pro form or two back shotgun sets, where there is the threat of a toss play (where your power G would work), motion into the slot, or double HB screens. I'd say a draw play as well but Kurt sucks at that.

I agree with you from a passing standpoint, but in all actuality, having a quintessential running back, like Timmy, impersonating a fullback is not a good idea, especially in I-formations.

yet they have Vincent filling in at the moment, I would have put HT down as stronger than him

I like it as a way to mind-screw the opponent, but not as a full-time thing. What I LOVE is the idea of them in a split backfield. I've been asking for this all season long, and come Sunday I think I'm going to get it. I think Whis has had this up his sleeve all season long.

Its actually Wright. Vincent is no longer on the time.

Our running game has suffered since Kreider went out with the neck injury. Wright, like Timmy, does not have the build to be a FB, even a fill in. I'd rather have one of our TEs in there

So the consensus seems to be:
Great subpackage.

Let's go ahead and have coach Whis do it (so who's got his number? Could we "twitter" him? Isn't that what you crazy kids do? Run around Twaiting on folks?)

oh got out of bed on the wrong side did we?
we are just passing the time until Sunday, I think we all know whatever conclusion we come to it doesn't matter, but the fun is in the discussion a bit like mock drafts??

Like most of my posts, it was lighthearted. I'm fond of the idea. I just didn't want to say the exact same thing in the same way.
Also: saying "Twaiting" is fun. :p
