We'll win without him. :)

:bang: Sad news. Hopefully it's not serious enough to need surgery right now and he'll be able to play through it later in the season.

Were you one of the people that said the season was over 3 days ago? :D

We can beat da Cubs, but I hope ta god that he can come back.

No. I have been a loyal supporter every year. I know some people here who have jumped off and on the ship.

I just hope Hudson can play because not only has he helped this team with his bat, his defense can't be replaced. Let's hope he will be back.

Maybe Ojeda can play close to Hudson on the defensive side. Great play to start the game ending double play!

Ojeda has been great defensively, but I agree. Just staying positive. This team doesn't deserve pessimism from me because they have proved me wrong each time this year. :)

Unlike the Suns who I'll be worried about until they can do something in the postseason. :-/

Yeah.. this sucks.. the brightside though is, every night we ahve a different leader, so its not like the yankees losing Arod, or the braves losing chipper, I honestly believe we can still compete and a night in and night out basis with Ciaspo/Ojeda, and having the rest of our cast contribute....

That said if the injury was to the outfield, Catcher, 3rd base, 1st base, Bullpen, Hitting Coach, I think we would be able to handle it MUCH better, and not miss much of a beat, its unfortunante that 2nd/SS is the place we are thinnest at outside of SP....

that does suck. he is great guy to have in that clubhouse in the line-up and on the field. the lone star in the all-star game, eventhough byrnes got robbed. They can still win without him, but definitely a blow if he can't return.

According to a report in today's Arizona Republic, Melvin intends to replace him at 2B with Callaspo when he recuperates.

Playing Hudson for the rest of the season with a tear could do permanent damage, they say.

No, it's not horrible. Still a big loss. If we win the division though we'll have some momentum going into next year. The D-Backs are going to be very good if they can get some starting pitching in the off-season.

Still holding out hope for ma man RJ. :-/

Yes, it's a big loss. Orlando was one of the big reasons the Diamondbacks stayed in contention in the first half. You just can't lose an All-Star Gold Glove winner and think it won't be a big loss.

When Gonzo went down with that season-ending injury at the end of the 2002, they never recovered and lost in the NLDS. Hopefully the guys who play at second can do a decent job at filling Orlando's place but this is a bad loss.

That sucks. Obviously it hurts the team, but I feel bad for Orlando. He is one of the big reasons we're in this position (and one of the few guys who has been hitting all year) and he's going to miss the stretch drive and (hopefully) the playoffs.

And on top of that....he may have played his last game in an Arizona uniform. That's rough. :(

I thought he still had one year left on his contract.

This team has alot of character. Since Hudson went down, they are undefeated. That is rallying around a leader if I ever saw it!

I can't live with an Augie Ojeda/Alberto Callaspo platoon... it's too painful

If Tracy can play in spot starter role, I wonder if Melvin would go with Tracy at 3rd and Reynolds at 2nd for a game or two. It would be much weaker defensively, but perhaps offensively it would make up for it.

This morning's Az. Republic quotes Melvin as saying the best he can hope for is Tracy being able to pinch hit this season.

Re: 2nd base. After his first start, it looks like Bonaficio is going to see alot of time there. Two 2-out RBI singles batting leadoff, a tremendous base stealer (even though he was thrown out in his attempt last night) and a great fielding play in the 9th inning.

.

Yah I just read that, I'm so confused by Tracy's injury, just because its something I haven't really heard off before. Is this the type of thing that will be fixed during the off season via surgery, or maybe just lots of rest? Or will it be severely nagging him for the rest of his career, after we just signed him to an extension?
