Nice hope he has a long and successful career in cardinal red. He will be a backup this season right?

He very well could be a backup but there is a good chance he will start at some point in the season. If or when Massie plays poorly.

I would guess that Humphries will see the field a few games into the season.

Pfft. They should have had it done within seconds following the draft. We almost had to worry about him not being signed in time for training camp in 7 weeks. *sarcasm related to another thread*

I'm glad the days of rookie contracts are OVER. That's one thing the NFL got correct. I remember the days of having a 1st round pick hold out...what a mess that was.

Maybe drafting Humphries was not the most exciting pick, but I'm beginning to appreciate the depth he brings to the offensive line.

That's my main point with this thread. I remember hold outs. It's so good to have those days be over!

Right on! When was the last time we had depth on the offensive line?

Like trying to find a pass rusher a good LT is also very hard to find. People are disappointed in the Humphreys pick but if he turnes out to be a good OT then it was a great pick making the rest of the O better.

What? You don't miss the endless debates over whose fault the holdout was and whether it was true the Cards waited to finish these deals until the first TV check for NFL franchises came in?

We have all our draft picks signed by the beginning of June? I just cannot believe I'd ever see the day when signing picks would be so easy. This is a change the NFL implemented that makes a ton of sense.

We always had depth on the Oline, problem was it was never any good and the starters were marginal at best. The days of guys like Bastiste starting at LT are gone.

Loved reading today about Humphries getting into a scrap with Woodley at the last OTA. Which Arians blamed on "Two new guys not knowing the rules. They will." To me, it showed the stuff about DJ having a nasty streak is real. He wasn't going to be bullied by a veteran.

Hump should be a backup all season IMO...if he is not, then something bad happened.

massie should improve a bit over last season and win the RT spot. If he does not, and Hump takes RT....in the event Veldheer goes down, we then have to disrupt two line positions, one on each side...in order to move hump to LT and insert Massie at RT

with Hump as reserve,...we would just need to insert him in to the vacant spot.

so my guess is that Massie will start unless Hump shows he is significantly better...not just marginally better
