What if when the team picks captains, they pick Kurt Warner for offense ?

I am excited for this preseason. QB controversy in full effect whether Whiz & Co. like it or not. I know if I were on the team it would be between Edge and Warner.

The only way the team would pick Warner as the Captian is if Warner is projected to be the starter by the coaching staff. The players do get to pick their own captians but they are also smart enough to not create their own contreversy and shoot themselves in the foot by creating bad vibes with the coaching staff.

Well said. The players/coaches know the headlines it would create.

Since we're talking Hypothetical....

What if they were able to change it throughout the game? The "C" patch could be attached with velcro. Instead of selecting a captain, the players would select the "Captain Designator" who would have the ability to grant and revoke the "C" patch. For example, if Q was elected Designator he might choose Leinart as the Captain before a game. If Matt throughs high on a crossing pattern and lays Boldin out, Q comes back to the huddle and says "Gimme that back, dumb*ss" and sticks the "C" on someone else. This would continue until a fight broke out within the huddle, at which point both players would be put in a penalty box for a couple of minutes while the team continued to play short handed.

A powerplay in football. That would be cool, you know, hypothetically. :)

Same can be said about Boldin.

So who is the captain. Edge by defaul.

Locker Room politics in full force for Cardinals camp.

My bet is the momentum from last year will be squashed this offseason.

Dollars to donuts thats what occurs.

Players back other players in the business side of this. If I was a betting man I would bet that the C is worn by Q again.

Much like what was retold in the Super Bowl III edition of America's Greatest Game, the Cardinals, like the Jets did with Namath, will elect Leinart to be the Captain in a continuing effort to accelerate his maturation.

It's starting to feel like the Cardinals are determined to sink or swim with Leinart. It's somewhat amazing to me that any team would feel so compelled by or dedicated to a player in that way. Especially when that player just fell in their laps. It's not like they made a big trade or gave anything extra up to get him so there shouldn't be any ego or pride involved with proving he was the right "choice".

A captain should lead by his example. He is telling every other player to sit out of voluntary workouts as a protest. Bad, bad example to set, especially as a captain.

Call it whatever you want. But those players will support Boldin on the business side of the issue a whole lot more often then not. When training camp starts and they see the way Q conducts business on the field my bet is he will be wearing the C again.

He does lead by example but now he has decided to make it about his future during a point in time that really isn't critical for a guy like Boldin. Your expectations are too high during the offseason/business side of the game.

The only point where complaining should commence would be if he starts yto hold out of training camp...until that happens, everyone should just chill out and let the business side play itself out.

I have no expectations, and I almost always side with the players on contract issues. If he wasn't a captain, I wouldn't have any problems with it. If he misses training camp? We can trade him to Dallas for all I care. No captain should miss training camp over a contract dispute.

First off you are misrepresenting. As of right now he is not the teams offensive captain. So that side of the debate is moot.

Boldin was voted the captain because of the way he plays and how vocal he is on the field. Because he continues to play through torn ligaments in his hip and a fractured hip for the good of the team etc.... He sacrifices for them. The players see that and know that. They dont care about the business side. They just dont.

I'll bet anyone here 14 cents that Matt Leinart is the captain this year. Anyone.

Screw it dammit, I'm feeling pretty confident. 17 cents. 17 cents says that Matt Leinart is captain this year.

I already share your viewpoint but since I know how often I'm wrong, I'll take that bet...assuming you'll take a penny a week throughout the season if I lose?

Come on Shane. Boldin is "still" the captain. I'm not misrepresenting anything. I'm saying that missing training camp as a "captain" or should I say .....vocal leader of team who has also earned respect of his teammates because of his playing style...

Look. I really like Boldin. My ex has his cell phone number and Boldin has already given a verbal commitment to talk at my son and daughter's school next year.

Boldin needs to show up on field like he has so far in his career, and that includes training camp.

I'm sure you know about walkin' the walk and talkin' the talk. Don't force me to make some calls. I don't want to have to bump the bet up to a quarter!
