Every Suns fan needs to be a HUGE Utah Jazz fan on Wednesday... a Jazz win in San Antonio (and a suns home win against the Blazers) would make the Western Conference playoffs look a HELL of a lot better for the Suns... If the Jazz beat the Spurs, and assuming the Rockets win at home against the Clippers, the standings would look like:

1. Lakers
2. Hornets
3. Jazz
4. Rockets
5. Suns
6. Spurs
7. Mavericks
8. Nuggets

I knowsome will disagree... but the chance to avoid playing New Orleans, Utah, AND San Antonio is awesome.. I think we should GLADLY take our chances against the Rockets Lakers, or Nuggets....

SO I am thinking about going out and buying a UTah Jazz T-shirt... anyone else?

I just realized it doesn't matter, utah is going in the tank wed. If they win they get s.a. in a 3/6, lose and they get a cakewalk with houston in a 4/5.

Nuggets?

Come on man.

haha.. I'm telling you man... the Nuggets are going to give the LAkers all they can handle.... I wouldn't be SHOCKED to see a Nuggets series win here... though obviously I expect the Lakers to pull it off in 6 or 7....

The Nuggets match up VERY well with the Lakers, expecially without Bynam...

Nuggets can score with just about anyone. If the Laker defense plays energized the Nuggets will lose.

Yeah, that's why we swept them this year without breaking a sweat.

We could very well sweep them in the first round. At most 6. Likely 5 in a walk.

BTW, they don't match up with us VERY well. They match up with us VERY poorly.

The bad team that matches up with us VERY well is out of the playoffs...that is Portland.

sac town also has given the lakers some trouble this year.

anyway, the jazz have no reason to win on wednesday. if they lose, they stay at 4th and get houston. if they win, they have to play san antonio. they will most likely rest their starters and slide into the playoffs. if they do happen to win, however, i will be thrilled. keep in mind that the spurs will be without ginobili again, so anything can happen.

You said it with "I expect the Lakers to pull it off in 6 or 7". If we were still using the old playoff format with a 1st round 5 game series, I'd like Denver's chances. Not so much over 7 games.

Still, at this point I really don't care who we play. The Suns are built for the playoffs and I think they can take anyone. It *would* be nice if some other team knocked the Lakers out, though. :)

yes, BUT, in a 4/5 HOU matchup, they start on the road AND face the Lakers in a second round matchup that's a nightmare for them. As opposed to getting the 3, they secure homecourt, where they're dominant and then, well, maybe even homecourt in round 2 depending on if Dallas can pull an upset and otherwise, they get a very green NO team. I think they'd rather take that road to the WCF than getting crushed by the Lakers. I don't think that team fears SA at all and knows how much they struggle on the road and how dominant they are at home.

agree. That series goes 5 games, 6 MAX and if it went 6, even then I'd be shocked.

oh yeah, excellent point. i hadn't thought about how that shifts their second round matchup. they would probably be happier to avoid the lakers until the WCF. maybe they will try and win. A depleted spurs team that appears to be slacking a little bit should be doable for them.

You have a point, and pop seems more likely to rest players then utah. So maybe they don't tank, but if I was them I would. Guess we'll see.

well that depends (the denver thing). if melo and ai get hot, there aren't many teams that can stop them. especially with the way jr smith has played this year, absolutely amazing and nothing short of it. without bynum, i'm not sure the lakers have the firepower on defense to slow them down. That being said, i would still expect the nuggets are their best to only take the lakers to 7.

i hope n.o. beats dallas and denver beats memphis. Then you get dallas/l.a. and dallas has no pressure.

That series is TROUBLE for the lakers.

yeah, should be interesting. although, none of it really matters if we decide to pull another choke job like we did against Dallas and HOU.

Home court advantage means more to the Jazz than any other team in the west. They'll go for the win.

not gonna happen. NO is gonna wrap up the 2 spot tomorrow night and then they have nothing to play for the next night, on the road, against a Dallas team that learned it's lesson last year not to rest guys going into the playoffs.

Haven't we learned by now that defense wins in the postseason? The Nuggets are one of the worst defensive teams I have ever seen, they won't win a series no matter how hot 'Melo and AI get.

And before you mention the Dallas/GS series from last year, this is Kobe's team not the soft-ass Mavs.

i see your point, but i still give the nuggets a fighting chance. they have so much talent that anything can happen. they actually have the ability to be a good defensive team, they just don't do it. Only time will tell i suppose, but don't count them out too easily.

Unless the Lakers assume it's in the bag and take a night off against the Kings, who have been playing very well of late.

they haven't played since the trade.... and the Nuggets have the talent and depth to knock the lakers out....

and though no laker fan will admit it, if Camby can shut Gasol down... and then Kobe will have to try and out-score the nuggets by homself (and you laker fans know damn well that there will be at least one game, win or lose, that kobe says screw it, I am going to take 30 shots and win the game by myself....

That won't worl against a team like the Nuggets, because they may not play a lot of defense, but they can outscore anyone....

I think if the lakers take your approach, they will be out before MAy....
