Besides what kind of critic goes to a zombie movie and then complains that it's a zombie movie? Maybe he didn't see the preview with zombies chasing Will Smith, or read the book, or watch the few other flicks based on the book, or was familiar with Matheson's work in sci fi/horror, or seen a book cover.

What's next criticizing Will Ferrell for his Will Ferrell shtick?

Just got back. It was very intense. I really enjoyed it. Plus there was a preview for the new Batman.

Just watched the film. I enjoyed it very much. It was entertaining.

A bunch of people cried during the movie.

Regarding the zombie comment, well no duh. It's a zombie movie. If any has ever read the book or is familiar with its content that is the gist of it.

Will Smith can always be counted on to put out an entertaining movie.

This won't win any awards, but it'll empty plenty of buckets of popcorn.

It was far from a zombie book(more a vampire angle with them sleeping during the day and him spending his day sharpening wooden stakes) it originally dealt with a man who felt he was alone doing what he thought was right but it turned out he was "legend" to the half-vampire/half-human mutants that he didn't know existed. He didn't realize there was a hybrid and it ended up he was as much a threat to them as they were to him. He was going around killing what he thought were monsters during the day while they slept and he was very much their "boogey man"--it has a twist & irony, this adaption of the movie didn't have anything close.

The movie was OK...the ending was just plain bad. I really wish they had stuck more to the original story and not deviated so much, it lost a lot of its impact. It ended up being a CG zombie movie with very little in the way of depth. The best part was his relationship with his dog.

I just wrote a long review on my blog and I really think we kind of agree man.

The movie could have been so much more.

Saw this last night. The first half was good but the second half was....I don't know. It left me wanting more. I thought they were going to do into the isolation more. Maybe the fight for survival. At the least I would have liked some sort of end to the ending. They just kind of left it out there. Not to mention....

Why didn't he toss the gernade from inside the shelter and then slam the door shut?

Was nothing like the book, But, I still really, really liked it and was very entertained.

In fact I am glad most movies don't turn out like the book because the book was already good so the movie usually falls short and I don't enjoy it. So I go into most movies based on books knowing full well it will be very different. Just don't think literal interpretations of books transfer well to the big screen most of the time.

Depends on which moment you're speaking of.

If it's when they first went into the shelter, his attention was carried to the fact that he had found the cure.

If it's when he put them in the wall, then the door was already breached.

I remember watching Six Degrees of Separation when it came out and I was very impressed with Will Smith... after that, not so much. Yeah, he's fun in big Hollywood cheesey blockbusters, but he's got so much more talent than the roles allow for in the films he's done. I'll see this not expecting much, but I really would like to see Will do something with substance.

Are you serious? He has done oscar worthy roles.

Ali, The Persuit of happyness, The Legend of Bagger Vance.

He is an exceptional talent who does a wide array of VERY GOOD movies.

If you want a closer adaptation, see The Omega Man starrring Charlton Heston or The Last Man on Earth starring Vincent Price.

Ok, in all honesty I don't get a lot of time to watch a lot of movies. I have not seen any of those three, but only crap like Men in Black and Independence day. I'll add those to my Netflix list though and hopefully see him at his best. Thanks.

Last Man on Earth was the closest to the book IMO. Too bad the film as a whole wasn't done very well--I write that off to the time period though, only so much they could do back then.

You really should see them. Especially the first two are exceptional performances and I do believe he was nominated for Oscars in both.

Considering all 3 movies were based on the same book, its to be expected.
I kept thinking about Omega Man, but didn't want to say anything and have people tell me I'm a ****** for thinking that. I'm so glad, actually, that it is based on the same book--now I don't have to feel the idea was ripped off. :)

Saw it with DCR last night...we both enjoyed it. Only complaint I had was the same as most on here...the ending. Seemed like they just ran out of film. :)

That is exactly how Mrs. SundevilScott and I both felt after watching it. I liked it until the end. I would have liked another 10 minutes or so of something.

Well, there was a part when I thought he should have thrown the grenade too. It was right as they were breaking the glass, but there was just enough room for a the grenade to go through the glass. He still might have died from the glass, etc. But he should have given himself a fighter's chance.

I think he didn't because he realized it was HIM they were after, not just anyone, and he knew he couldn't stop them all night. He wanted the girl & boy to have a fighting chance to get the cure to someone. The best shot they had would be if he were dead.

Yes, I realize that. Once he found the cure though, he really only needed to survive that night. He didn't need to fall on his own sword.

I really enjoyed the movie. I wasn't expecting an oscar winner so I came away with very little to complain about.

Watching him have to kill his dog was rough. And the ending was to abrupt IMO. Other than that I enjoyed it. Especially when he has to follow Sam into the "hive". That was an intense piece of cinema.
