I will take it with some Honey Mustard.

I was wrong, Towers destroyed this team. I still like a couple of the moves, but overall they have been a disaster.

That is all.

BTW, I am the eternal optimist, so I was holding out hope. Hope is quickly fading and for me, it takes a lot.

The entire team, with only a couple of exceptions, is playing the most uninspiring brand of baseball I've ever seen. The starting rotation is made up of a #3 (Miley) and 4 long relievers...they all get through 3-4 innings and then all heck breaks loose. Really, really sad. I thought Dave Duncan would really help this group out, but sadly, I think all involved are just cashing a paycheck and waiting for the trade deadline.

I do have to place a fair amount of blame on Gibby - a number of players are performing well below career averages - that can't be blamed on Towers.

Time for a clean sweep.

As with banky, there have been some moves I liked, and others that probably didn't make any difference. But as a whole, Tower's supposed strengths are not showing.

Yep... It's amazing when you consider that a large number of players on this team are at, or, approaching their prime playing years! Prado, Parra, Pollack, Trumbo, Campana, Goldy, Hill, Owings, Montero, Miley, Cahill, McCarthy...

I mean, aside from Goldy, if all the rest merely approached their career averages, we would be at worst, a .500 team. The moves made by KT have not at all panned out - and as I've said, he will need to pay the ultimate price. However, KT can't be responsible for the actual players on the team playing at career worst levels... That is about coaching and IMHO, Gibby should be the recipient of the first shot fired...

I want to know what the hell has happened to Miggy - he used to be great at handling pitchers, good at the plate, good at throwing out runners. He's crap the past season plus.

Did you talk to him or something, 82?

I agree that Gibby deserves some of the blame on the offensive side of the call. Even with high run output, our pitching staff is so bad, it would not even matter. Not even Corbin would help at this point.

He's not, but this staff is just plain terrbile. I am not sure anyone could succeed with this staff. We have had three quality starts and maybe a 4th today. Three of them will be from Wade.

All in all how surprising is the performance of many of these guys?

Montero is only .020 off of his career OPS, and catchers age in dog years so a decline from a guy with his millage is not our of the ordinary.

Trumbo is the same guy he was for the Angels.

I think Prado is doing the same thing he did last year early and pressing, he will likely eventually round into his typical and pedestrian mid 700 OPS numbers.

Aaron Hill has had an up and down career, I think his numbers will probably get better but this is nothing that has not been seen from him before.

Pollock, Parra... these guys were never known for offense. Parra will probably bring his numbers up a tad, Pollock probably is what he is.

Campana stinks. There is a reason that despite incredible speed he, at 27, has never gotten significant exposure. A one tool player who relies on beating out dribblers to reach base.

And really I think the offense as a whole is pressing because the pitching staff is soooooooooo freaking awful, and its hard to blame Gibson for that. McCarthy's never been a reliable starter, he has always had injury problems and eventually those take their toll. I dont think anyone is all that surprised by Cahill after seeing him the last few years. Arroyo is a 37 year old junk baller who has led baseball in home runs surrendered during the last 5 years. With all the homers he surrenders an increase in base runners would likely cause him to go off a cliff... and it has.

Charles Nagy is probably having a good laugh somewhere.

Also, the personality they've constructed with this team, valuing nice guys over talented but flashy ones also feeds into this. Look how many of these guys are just rolling over and taking it. No one is getting pissed off out there, no one is showing any emotion. As much as Upton's inconsistency aggravated people he sure would not take crap from the opposition or bad calls from the umps without standing up for himself, our most firey pitcher (Kennedy) got ran out of town on a rail because of a slump, Eaton, the "spark plug" leadoff guy who showed a lot of emotion out there, got dumped in favor of an inferior timid player (Pollock).

Its a bland team made mostly of below average, nice guys who are now rolling over and dying.

It might have been Bickley but not sure but someone said this team has completely taken on the persona of our manager. BLAND!!! They have no fire or passion and it is pretty unwatchable at this point. Figures the first year I decide to buy season tickets we are total cellar dwellars. I want a refund!!!!!

The players have already quit. Read on SI Truth & Rumors, when Eric Chavez was asked if there was going to be a players meeting regarding their play so far. His response, "Why? Talk is cheap at this point". Changes need to be made now.

I dont think they have quit. If i remember correctly, I read on azcentral that the players have had tons of meetings so i think that quote was taken out of context.
