I don't know how anyone walks away from that game and doesn't believe beyond a shadow of a doubt that we are cursed. Coaches, players, and FO come in of all varietys - yet nothing works.

I hate to say it but the only constant is Bidwill.

cue: Strike up the ten members of the Bidwill (Hey look - I spelled it right!!!!;)) family who pose as "un-bias" posters on the board to come to Billy Boys defense.

Putting aside curses and POS owners - here is the real problem.

The Cards will put together some smoke and mirrors or even more common, have some stupid team be more even more inept then us (see Perinnial jokes Lions and Bengals), and eke out a couple wins (you ever notice how every win we have had in the last decade at some point in the 4th quarter is in doubt???) only to gain false bravado, rally the Zonies, and -poof- think they can show up and beat anybody. Its like after any little bit of success the players think they are all of a sudden the 90's Cowboys or something. What a joke.

To borrow an NBA line....

Sorry doesn't work anymore. We not only got a new stadium we got a new Bidwill and they still lose. Now in more unbelievable ways than ever.

They're cursed. You just can't explain it any other way.

I agree that the constant to losing is ownership and it's all in the family. They determine what ever else happens to the team, FO, coaches, players, etc. The fact is, the ownership can determine it's own fate. They can build a successful franchise if they so desire. It's the fans that are cursed... with this team.

Did Bill Sr. use a Jedi mind trick to make Warner throw a stupid interception?

Was Mike B. sticking a voodoo pin into his McFarlane action figurine of Boldin to make him fumble?

Did the ghost of the original Bidwill push Racker's head a little bit higher into his butt?

Will the Bidwill family adopt me for coming to their defense?

Are we seriously going to put the words "Cardinals" and "over-confidence" in the same sentence and not be in danger of spontaneously bursting into flames out of uncontrollable laughter?

They're the same old Cardinals because they play the same year after year no matter what changes they make.

And there is no way you, or anyone else, can positively prove that the team is not cursed.

So why do you watch if you believe they are cursed? You must be a masochist to root for a team you know will lose forever. The object of sports is to win. You root for a team because you think they can win.

I cant believe in the 21st century someone believes in curses. If you believe in curses then you believe that a complete stranger could come up to you and put a hex on you that will totally ruin your life. In other words you dont believe the Cards or you have control over their fate or your own life. To believe in curses is to accept mediocrity. That environment is why mediocrity can survive. Maybe we need a witch doctor or that actor who played one of the priests in the Exorcist.

What do you think Whiz would do if one of his players came up to him and said I blew that game because of a curse? That player would be gone so fast it would make his head spin. If one of your subordinates came up to you and said I failed at that assignemnt because a of a curse would you accept that?

You have to look at the constant factors in an objective manner to determine why an object fails.

When he dives for first downs rather than deliver a blow...he is defintley showing signs of "self-preserving" for his next contrat. So in a sense...he is "self-motivated". Good receiver though. I'm not sure if he gets away with that if he was playing for another NFL team.

I GUARANTEE that he gets away with that playing for every other team in the NFL. If you think that diving for a first down rather than allowing yourself to get gangtackled is some sort of flaw, I just have to completely disagree with you. Fitz is performing like a probowl receiver, and is staying healthy at the same time.

So if "self-preserving" means that you are "self-motivated," I'm glad that Fitz is "self-preserving."

Was Billy the DE who lost defensive containment and allowed Steve Bono to run for an 80 yard TD? No

Was Michael the punter who kicked to Devin Hester last year? No.

Was Billy playing the turnstile offensive line the last two decades leading to historical ineptitude? No

But you know what? he was the guy who paid for all the coaches and players who DID make those mistakes. If you don't think there is culpability in that you are kidding yourself.

We as Cards fans are VERY defensive about a lot of things with the Bidwill family topping the llist. And thats because we know his control is not going anywhere any time soon so it would makes us feel more hopeless then we already are. Hey I was part of that too. I made all the arguments about the stadium and the new FO and everything.

And then Sunday happened. Face the facts people - if we ever end up winning it will be in spite of Bill. Not because of him. And so far the odds of that ever happening don't look so good.

Until Bill moves out (and to a lesser degree stops leaving personnel decisions to Rod Graves- I liken his hiring to the movie "Eddie") it might not get much better than 5-5 at ten game mark.

I really hope I am wrong.:(

We are really not that far apart on our thinking, and for the most part I was really just kidding with you.

But if I truly believed that that the team would never be successful until there was a change in ownership, then that would be the death of hope.

You have to look at the constant factors in an objective manner to determine why an object fails.

That's just your opinion and you have no scientific facts to back it up because it is impossible to prove or disprove.

I watch the team because I like to see what weird stuff is going to happen to them next.

Believing in a curse is not accepting mediocrity. Only giving up because you think you are cursed is. You can't give up because you can beat the curse or it could just go away suddenly.

BTW there are millions of people who don't believe they have control of their fate believing that it is in the hands of God.

How is believing in curses any different than believing that you are going to have some kind of reward after you die if you are good and go to Church on Sunday or bow toward Mecca at prescribed times? I'm sure atheists feel the same way about that as you do about curses.

The Red Sox finally won the World Series when they and their fans put a concerted effort into their "reverse the curse" theme.

We could go on about this forever but I won't because it really doesn't fit here and would be a more appropriate discussion for the P & R board.
So i'm out.

Just an aside...

Being self-motivated is a positive trait, indicating that one is driven by internal character, goals and ambition.

Being self-centered involves placing your interests and welfare above the interests and welfare of others.

Is Fitz self-motivated? Absolutely. Is he self-centered? That's the topic of your debate.

Carry on.

Here's the problem as I see it: He doesn't have a good sense of where the first down is. I think if he could see the yellow line that we do on TV, he either wouldn't be diving, or at least he wouldn't be diving when he does.
