I am still upset with the draft schedule.

The problem as i see it is that the new format benefits the casual fan who can check in every once in a while during the three days therefore the NFL gets a more varied fan base to watch the whole event. In the original format only the die hard fans among us would watch the whole thing from start to finish. This might've meant that hardly anybody would get to see the third, fourth round and onwards. Becuase of the fact that they've now made that a day on its own so they'll get a lot more fans watching that. In the past they'll have a good following in the first two rounds or so and then a massive drop off. Now theyll get consistently good figures over the three days. I dont like it one bit but i can see why the NFL wants to do it this way.

I kind of like it. I usually fall asleep after a few hours anyway and miss most everything after the first round anyhow.

Also, all the NFL people I have heard seem to love the new set up as it allows more time for trades and analysis between rounds. Whiz and Graves said as much during the presser yesterday.

Starts 9am here, and I have the day off to watch it. The split format also means for the first time, we get the 2nd & 3rd rounds on day 2 now too Saturday morning. Given the depth this year, day 2 is going to be pretty interesting as well.
As someone else mentioned, the bad news with watchign it live is all the ads ESPN loves to shove in.
I'm pretty excited about this year!

I got 2 wwords for you...VACATION DAY!!!! I get off at 2 in the afternoon, so the 10 PM ending sucks as I get up at 3 AM. So vacation day friday, let the scotch flow and the upper deck of my humidor will be severly damaged.

Don't mind it at all and it may actually make things exciting trade wise since their is some time for teams to maneuver. I am usually more busy on the weekends and miss it alot of times so primetime on a week night sounds great!

I just can't seem to catch a break with the draft the past few years. Every year I'm somehow not able to catch a significant portion of it, and it's one of those events I used to celebrate like you guys.

During my last year of college, I missed the 2nd day on a mandatory class excursion.

Last year, I missed the first and second rounds because of work. Now that I have Thursday and Saturday off, I have to work Friday night.

But this primetime thing is terrible, especially because it's all on East Coast time.

I don't like having only one round on Thursday. If the Cards trade down out of the first, it will be the most anti-climactic draft day of my life.

hit the liquor if that happens, what a wasted day that would be.

With all the hype and commercials it will probably be at least 9:30 EST before the first pick is announced.

The new schedule sucks for people who work into the evening, but as a college student it almost fits my schedule perfectly. I will probably miss the first 2 or 3 picks, but I don't care. Bradford/Suh/McCoy, the order might change but those 3 should be gone. I like getting a break between the first and second, I will pay attention 1st-3rd rounds and after that it's not a big deal if I miss it.

I agree with both of you guys. Luckily there is a bottle of jack above my fridge, I just need to buy a 2 liter from the store and I have my backup plan. And to be honest I REALLY wouldn't be surprised to see us trade back if a guy like spoon/hughes/wilson isn't there when we pick. I'm not fretting too much, but it wouldn't surprise me.

I can see where the schedule would be bad for anyone in Pacific time zone. But it's perfect for Central Time zone. Get home just in time to see the first pick.

What I like most is the 3-day format. It gives more time for the pundits to digest each round and rounds 2 and 3 will get a lot more attention with plenty of time to analyze them.

I hope NFL Network gives Charlie Casserly more face time. He's been terrific IMO in the Path to the Draft shows.
