This means nothing. The worst thing that happened is Kerr telling the media that he wouldn't grant permission for D'Antoni to talk to other teams. It makes him look bad.

Not really. If Kerr said he wouldn't ...that could mean that Kerr had no intentions and that was his way of saying "we want you here". However, if D'Antoni asked, I don't see any problem with his changing his stance if that is what Mike wants.

For all we know, D'Antoni ASKED to at least be given the opportunity to see what else is out there, and instead of Kerr saying, "No way", he said ok. You guys are acting like Kerr said OK right out of the blue. I can almost guarantee that D'Antoni ASKED for Kerr to give the permission. Does that mean he wants to leave the Suns? Maybe, maybe not.

I never said any different and I am not sure who "you guys" is. I don't think I made a stance one way or another on who's idea it was to grant permission for Mike to speak to other teams. I was just making a statement based on what was reported.

My point still stands. I don't think you can grant permission for Mike to talk to other teams yet say convincingly "your our guy". Nor do I think Mike can convincingly say "I always wanted to be here". No matter what, if D'Antoni stays both side will look bad IMO.

The bigger thing that has happened was Amare's comments about D'Antoni, not anything Kerr said.

I think that is being blow out of proportion. Amare did not say "fire the guy" but didn't exactly give him a ringing endorsement either. I am actually less concerned about that. Nash and Bell's comments were more subtle but both basically said that "things have to change" as well.

Steve Kerr wants the same exact things that everyone on this board has been whining about for a year. Why don't you guys just sit back and see if he follows through on it? Instead, everybody is ready to jump ship (as usual). Because if the coach you all hate is gone, well then the team is doomed. Wait. THAT logic is flawed, isn't it? Isn't this what all you people want??

Who is jumping ship? I have been stating since before the season that if D'Antoni didn't get it done after this season I want him gone. It's not like I joined that bandwagon after the series loss. I don't hate D'Antoni by any stretch. I just don't think he is good enough to win an NBA title. Isn't that the point? What is so "flawed" about that?

I am not under any delusion that just because we get rid of Mike it will solve our problems. However, I take the same stance as I did with the Shaq trade. If you do nothing, you can't win. If you do something, then you might have a shot.

PS. Way to generalize everyone's stance.

This is exactly what the Suns want you to believe, that they tried SOOOOO hard to keep Mike and that because Mike wants to leave they have no choice but to roll out Vinnie Del Negro because they were unprepared for Mike "wanting to leave us."

I guess some Suns fans will blindly hail this as the best move possible and try to throw Amare under the bus for this....and I am hearing we get a black uniform next year....yeah foamy!

My prediction:

D'Antoni interviews with Chicago and NY, realizes those situations are a mess, and returns to Phoenix.

The Suns use the #15 pick on Chase Budinger.

Unwilling to pay the luxury tax, the Suns lose both Giricek and Skinner.

They sign a soft European big with Hemophilia and tell the fans that he's like Skinner and Giricek combined.

Grant Hill comes back but is nagged by injuries all year and is only minimally effective.

Shaq is lazy during the regular season, leading the Suns to the 7 seed, where they get bumped.

Shaq retires and is elected Sheriff of Maricopa County.

In the East, Sam Mitchell is once again unable to get the Raptors out of the 1st round and is fired.

D'Antoni is fired after being unable to lead an age and injury ridden team to the title. He gets hired in Toronto. Steve Kerr becomes coach of the Phoenix Suns, ushering in a new era of mediocre results in both wins-losses and fan interest.

The Suns sell/waste their picks in 2009. Shaq retires. When Steve Nash's deal runs out, he signs in Toronto to play for D'Antoni, and his home country. He backs up either TJ Ford of Jose Calderon (whoever the Raptors end up keeping).

Amare Stoudemire and to a lesser extent Leandro Barbosa are the only good players left on the Suns. Amare becomes the new KG, a supremely talented big with power and shooting ability, but not enough talent around him. At the end of his deal, he walks, and signs in LA to play alongside one of his favorite players, Kobe Bryant.

I find myself on a cross country business trip, on my plane is Steve Kerr. I hijack the plane and fly it into the ground, sacrificing myself, to commit community service for the Suns and city of Phoenix.

I'm posthumously awarded some sort of Medal of Honor from new Arizona Governor Phil Gordon. A small, unknown cave just South of Phoenix previously known by its offensive name "Squaw Cave" is renamed in my honor.

I predict that all of your predictions are incorrect. But in the spirit of saying "thanks for trying" we will still re-name a well-known Arizona landmark in your honor anyway. So "Hoover Dam" will henceforth be known as "Hoover Dam"...
