Anyone think Mike Leach would be a good coach? He is very innovative on offense.

Maybe we can get Jerry Sullivan back here! I remember people RAVING about the "innovated offense" he was going to bring to the Jeff Blake led Cards back in 2003...

The "George Allen" syndrome hit the Cards HARD. Bring in old guys and try to catch the proverbial "lightning in the bottle" and it failed miserably.

Got to build with the draft and a few, good FA signing. The widow has slammed shut.

Here is the problem with Arians. And it mirrors Whisenhunt. We got an aging QB who had a chip on their shoulder and wanted to prove something. Whisenhunt almost blew it and actually could have made the playoffs earlier if he started Warner earlier. Warner was an amazing QB and the 51-45 win over Green Bay is still the best game I have ever seen and the best game a QB has ever played. He three for more TDs than incompletions.!!! But Arians got Palmer who almost played as well as Warner did. Mix that in with a lot of talent and we were good.
But the problem is....the system needs all that to be involved...a top notch QB with top notch WRs all playing well. Football is such an emotional game because of the intensity of it. The defense usually feeds off the offense and thats what we did in our Super Bowl run. We played lights out defense when we needed too. But just like Whiz ..Arians is too stubborn. Whiz brought in awful QBs and said his system will work. And it failed miserably....Arians now thinks he can run his system through Stanton. This is another huge fault of Arians. He is so loyal he rather lose with Stanton...Amos...Betcher. Than fire them and get better options.
I dont understand why we didn't tell Todd Bowles that this team would be his when Arians retired. Yes he would have to wait 5 more years but this team would be serious contenders last 2 year's and now with Bowles running this defense. Inalso think Calais and Jefferson might have stayed for less because Bowles was here.
Arians is going to go down with the ship just like Whiz did. We already Have seen games very close to the 59-0 loss to Seattle this year. Rams and Eagles. Now Stanton is QB ....we might lose a few more like that. No way can Arians survive that. If he does...fans might as well kneel during the game to protest because this will get a whole worse if he comes back next year.

Both coaches made the fatal mistake of not investing in their offensive lines as their QBs aged. That’s where all your money should go once your QB hits that second contract or later.

Keim has invested quite a lot in OL though. But look how that played out: Iupati injury prone as ever, Veldher's play falling off a cliff, Cooper biggest bust in Cardinal history, along with the likes of Dorian Johnson, Boehm, Toner... Humphries took a while but looks good now at LT, so at least we have one piece in place. But at least 3 new OL starters are needed next year.

I was at the game, and it looked like the coach lost his team. But more I was shoked that the guy behind me, that never saw a NFL game before (was a soccer fan and came only because of his new gf that is a Cards fan because of DJ and Fitz) asked his GF and later me why, they show that they run. He could see when we run, at least twice (TE motion to the middle before the snap) and the second run was stopped for -1 ....

Long story short, if a newbie can see when we run or we pass, than everyone on the opponent D knows that before the snap.

That is bad playcalling, that is bad preperation, that is putrid that is ... disgusting.

And 11 runs ... gosh that was something I couldn't understand, but Bettcher isn't better, he doesn't put his players in position to succseed. TM is jogging because even if he gives 100% in a zone D he can't do nothing against a QB whichs main play is between the zones ...

PP21 was furioust all the time, he jumped up and down like "the rumpelstiltskin" and not only on failstarts. I thought that 80% of them come fome playing zone or the D-line knowing that they need to do something because else they get beaten badly.

33-0 one of the worst games, in the last 5 years. only the 58-0 was worse, and only the Panthers game hurt more.

But gosh, with 2 such losses, BAir has lost much of his credibility.

BA has to go. I do not know if Keim has to go as well, but BA for sure. He is to stubborn to play in knowadays NFL. He doesn't want to be a HC in my eyes, he doesn't want to have the best Coordinators he loves them and he gets blind. But more so he is stubborn at playcalling, doesn't adjust very well and so on. 0-6 and you start passing like a madman? really?

But overall, this coaching staff is done, I'm not sold on Stanton and I think we will be happy to win 2 other games. But I don't want to se BA choosing a QB. The new HC should do it.

Hopefully Fitz wants to get #2 in recieving yards all time, about 1050 yards to go, that sounds like this and next season. A young QB can need sure hands and a go to guy like Fitz.

Confirmation bias.

Plenty of times, the Cardinals ran play-action passes out of that same formation.

If you look at the play-by-play on NFL. com, for the first couple of games it included the formation along with each play. (Not sure why, but that info is absent from the more recent games.) In reviewing all of the plays from the first few games, I was surprised by how often the play formation disguised the actual play.

Example: http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/20170...p3000000846190&tab=analyze&analyze=playbyplay

The Cardinals have a LOT of problems, but Arians didn't become a complete idiot at play design and play calling between 2015 and 2017.

You sure about that? The last year and a half points more toward that than not IMO.

.

That is all of it right there. Nothing more needs to be added. Anyone trying to defend BA is standing on quicksand.

There are plenty of "tells" in the game. Offensive lineman tend to lean forward on run plays versus leaning back to pass plays. The biggest tell is when Larry goes in motion and crashes down. The defense is where you need to disguise things IMO, the offense can run many plays from the same formation. But to give away where you're blitzing from is bad.

I have never forgotten that Arian’s first interview and choice was San Diego. We were the last team to make a hire at that time and really put Horton through the ringer during the entire process. I really wanted Andy Reid and the fallback was Kyle Shanahan for me.

Arians brought in some great football minds but they were OLD football minds. Old minds are usually stubborn, set in their ways, more unwilling to be agile and adapt when plans fail, and more loyal to their long time coaching partners. Obviously..... These are big problems that are coming to the surface in the past two years.

Now.... we are a year past the young coaches window with Shanahan, McVay, Joseph, McDermott, etc all getting jobs. The only super qualified coordinator left is Josh McDaniels IMO.

We always seem to be a day late and a dollar short. Now we will probably be riding Arians and Co for another year while contracts expire in the coaching staff and on the field. Meanwhile.... We continue to suffer.

Speaking of old people, where has Tom Pratt been? The shot of him sitting stonily on the sideline after Carson throws directly at a defender are classic. Feel like I haven’t seen him in two years.
