Can he still play? At this point, the Suns need to sign someone, and Penny may be "ok" for 10-15 minutes off the bench. From what I saw of him in NY he was basically a shadow of his former self, but looked decent enough to play a few minutes off of the bench.

What about a 1 year vet minimum deal? It might be worth a shot.

Am I totally insane? ;)

Were you the guy that called extra sports 910 today and suggested this? Gambo ripped that guy a new one for his suggestion and I would have to agree....who needs a guy with no knees...what can he do that could help us, except wave his towel. Are you kidding me@!

Look Penny fan, he left a bad taste in our mouths. We never got to see any Penny glory days in Phoenix. He came here washed up with a fat contract and a big mouth. I dont like him...I dont want to see him get a ring on the Suns team. I dont want his cancer around our players. He's a washed up bum!

Did You catch penny with your wife or something?

I see no reason why any Suns fan should have still have any hatred towards Penny.

His contract is over, and if he cameback it would be for the Vet Min.

Its not like we would be paying him max money again.

The way Googs and Penny are hated in Phoenix is mind boggling. They got hurt playing for us, not doing something stupid off the court like riding a motorcycle without a helmet.

Penny Hardaway is worth nowhere near the minimum, so let's just put that out of our mind before this thread becomes a John Salmons wannabe.

Well the truth is Gambo had no right to rip him, Penny had an attitude with Stephon Marbury and at the time we all felt it must be Penny being a headcase. Turns out Penny might have been ok, just had one of the worst surgeries with bad results.

Did Penny come in injured and drop back to back games of like 35-45points? AGAINST LA LAKERS he will be fine in my book forever but I dont think he could pass a physical. I loved the way he use to back down those little pgs

Penny can still play, and last i heard he was 100% healthy.

He didnt play in Orlando cause people over there still hold grudges.

Penny playing backup PG for 10+mpg would be great, cause its not enough minutes to get himself injured, and just enough minutes to keep the offense running fine while Nash rest. But it would be wise to put someone like Barbosa in with him to bring the ball up the court.

And even at 35 years old and all the leg injuries, Penny still has excellent court vision and all he would have to do is feed Amare,Marion,Diaw and Barbosa when hes in the game.
And we have a bunch of open roster spots, so :bhiich:

Yeah... No

At least Pat Burke can shoot. And run. And put his arms up. And walk. And actually not be a cancer in the locker room.

There's a reason Pat Burke is still in the league and Penny is not. Think about it.

Penny sat on the end of a bench, just like Burke did last year.

Burke would also still be looking for a team if we didnt give him a player option.

And when did Burke develope the ability to run? or shoot?

And Penny is a cancer in the locker room cause he defended himself against attacks from the media?

One, it was sarcasm, and two, I'd take Burke's 6 fouls over Penny's 6 fouls, which would most likely all be offensive anyway.

You actually believe that?

I have never called XTRA910, but normally listen. I must have missed the guy today.

Yeah i do

Penny got labeled a cancer, and its the furthest thing from the truth.

You've never heard any teammate of Penny's come out and badmouth him to the media.

Shaq liked playing with him, Nick Anderson,Darrell Armstrong, and Horace Grant loved playing with him in orlando.Bo Outlaw and Penny are best friends.Joe Johnson even though competing for playing time with Hardaway, still looked up to him.

Penny had beef with Brian Hill and the media in Phoenix, and thats it.

And Brian Hill was disliked by most of the team in Orlando, but it was Penny's team and he was the superstar so he took the heat for Hill being fired.

Now tell me how Penny is a locker room cancer again?

I have a feeling the Suns actually asked Burke to stay. Clearly, if they wanted him to lease, they could have added him to the Blazers "sign my waiver guy" deal along with Skita instead of the full $3 mil.

I don't know if Burke is going to contribute, but I think he may get better since most of his problems were due to conditioning and correctable mental errors. Doesn't mean he'll be more than a big guy to practice against, but he must have shown something to not get the Skita treatment.

I guess you have a short memory. Oh well. I'm done on this subject.

Please refresh my memory then.

I would love to know what made Penny a cancer in Phoenix.

Other than the Media attacking him and spewing BS.

The most commonly reported issue was the head games Penny played on JJ. JJ had a well deserved reputation for having confidence problems, but Penny made matters worse in order to keep the starting position. At the time Penny left, JJ was shooting 39% from the field. By the end of the season he was up to 43% with Barbosa as PG.

The problem with Penny was simple, he couldn't play a lick of defense. Maybe it was the injuries, maybe it was lack of interest, but that's why JJ was playing even though he wasn't able to hit any shots.

Please, dear God, no.

I'd rather see one of the Van Arsdales or Alvan Adams brought out of retirement than see Penny Hardaway back here.

Come to think of it, either of the Van Arsdales or AA might do better at this point than Penny.

I suppose his gun incident with his girlfriend was another media spin job huh?

I dont want that whiny cancer anywhere near our locker room...not even if he were with the press core.

Come everyone knows Joe Johnson was one of the softest, most fragile personalities in the NBA at that time.

JJ's own shadow scared him before he finally started acting like a man in 2004.

What does that have to do with being a locker room cancer? Unless his baby mama played on the team.

And go read up on what actually happened between Hardaway and his child's mother.

Cause i'm pretty sure it was reported that she lied to the cops about what actually happened.
