the Cards have a bad QB

AND

a bad offensive system

AND

a top 12 offense

Im not sure how you reconcile those things

I can easily reconcile it.

The Cardinals have a 13-15 QB.

They have a good system if you have a lead and stay on schedule and a bad one if you don't.

These two things led to a top 12 offense.

Also the ball control offense greatly covered for an absolute ass defense as long as there are no turnovers

One of these things can make the Cardinals a top 10 offense with Petzing:

Marvin Harrison Jr consistently winning one on one end zone matchups.

The Cardinals getting actual starting quality OG play

Murray not being absolute ass after November

Yeah I'm not as down on Petzing as some.

I thought his scheme was a decent fit for our 2024 personnel group, and like you mention to protect our game but overmatched defense.

Curiously, in terms of play calling, a little bit like his QB1, DP seemed to shrink up some in high pressure situations. Not at his best.

But yeah. It's not a stretch to think this offensive group can go from 12th to maybe 8th or 7th if it works hard together all offseason.

I clearly blame the players over the coordinator.

Really - so you think 21 touchdown passes by Kyler, and Wilson and Dorch's performances were acceptable?

I had much higher expectations than that.
I think your expectations were a tad misplaced. Dortch is a fourth receiver, at best, on most rosters. Wilson produced as expected for the talent of a 3rd receiver playing the 2nd receiver role imo.

Anyone taking the Bears HC job is either stupid or has big brass ones. Lions, Vikings and Packers are all very good teams with excellent HCs and QBs. Things can change quickly in the NFL but the Bears have been a train wreck and it starts at the top.

MOCK INTERVIEW

How would you describe the strives you made as a coach this year?

Well we started off running the ball really well like last year and had some inconsistent and shocking offensive performances.

I really thought it showed alot of my growth as a coach when the Bills and Lions shut us down completely in the 2nd half.

This was also seen in the Rams game where Kyler scrambled and made perfect and somehow superhuman throws when we routed them when they had a backup oline.

I thought the Commanders game was a regression and I take full responsibility for that.

What about the GB game?

Yeah...

Like holy cow, the balls on this guy to consider leaving this team after all his post game conferences where he repeats the same phrases over and over again.

What I am most proud of, is the fact that we got shutout in the first half by the Rams, after lighting them up in the 1st half earlier in the year.

Not to mention the fact that Seattle shut us down in SEA, but hey thats a tough place to play.

I could go all day.

Going into this season he was on many potential head coach lists. Most coordinators require making a leap to head coach as they lack experience in that job. So Pentzing still being considered is not surprising. He took on an offense with a weak receiver group, a troublesome QB situation and a history of limited recent success. The Cards certainly weren’t overwhelming on offense, but a major coaching criterium is the ability to perform under less than ideal circumstances. I doubt he will be the choice (Kingsbury is the popular rumor). It does mean Pentzing is well thought of.

I'll throw in an actually here. Actually, the defense bailed the offense out quite a few times this season. The offense not doing enough to score points is what ultimately cost this team.

Agreed on the rest.

This is rich coming from you.

‘Our QB stinks and we need to move on but the OC has done an amazing job.’

Hilarious
Actually, I said nothing of the sort. Just stated that he is highly thought of around the league. This hit piece of a thread is a joke and not needed.

I think we are a running team that ran the ball. Scoring as a whole wasn’t terrible. Marv and Kylet r could have been better. I expect it will be. Trey could had better success in the red zone, and I expect he will. The numbers aren’t far off from the talent.

I see Odegard is a stan. Thinking this game in any way moves the needle is beyond misguided.

I think he's trolling/looking for clout.

I had much higher expectations than that.

Cards were T-13th for total TDs with Kansas City and San Francisco. The problem is that the step up from 13 to five is 15 more TDs. We have to find a way to close that gap next year.

Wilson's performance was fine based on being the third receiving option in a low-volume offense (21st in passing attempts).

Dortch is not good. We'd be better off never reading a post from Calvisi or the AZSports dudes next season.

Im not sure how you reconcile those things

Very few people think that Kyler is bad in the way that, say, Will Levis is bad. They can think he's fine/good/average and be disappointed by that.

The gap then closes when you add in a top seven rushing attack and top three in yards per attempt.
