I dropped my TV and phone from my Verizon package keeping only the internet. I have Netflix, Hulu, as well as some other stuff on Fire TV and am trying out Playstation Vue and like it so far. If I keep it, it will be $45 a month with no hidden fees and taxes. Right now I'm saving about $150 off of my cable bill but if I keep Vue it will still be savings of $100.

The think I have trouble with on cutting the cord is watching sports. That's the one thing that would be tough to view unless I get an antenna and view it that way?

Sports is the big one you miss. For me I am only mostly concerned with cardinals games and I get all those on OTA being in Arizona. Other sports, you would lose unless you pay for a service that has those channels.

This is on our radar. We own an Apple TV, but the only thing holding me back is sports. I dont get Cards games in CA with the exception of the nationally broadcasted ones.

Direct TV has been doing standalone sunday ticket packages without cable the past few years. This would likely be your only option without cable.

I'm watching the Dbacks game and I don't have cable. I pay $20 a month for a SlingTV package that I access through my Roku.

The package includes Fox Sports Az, FX1 and 2, Amc, hgtv, tnt, tbs and about 8 more channels.

You are now part of the tribe.

There are ways to get sports if that is the only thing holding others back. SlingTV is one way for at least locals. To those that have Vue....is only available on the PS4 right now right? I ran across it on my PS4 but have not really looked deep into it because I thought the price was too high.

I knew it was a Playstation service I was just not sure if there were plans outside of the console they were expanding to. I fired it up the first time I noticed it on the console then looked at the price and said....NOPE.

I guess I do remember seeing the app on my FireTV. I didn't know they were on all those other platforms. Too bad they are so high on cost.

so now that I have access to it (i dont have a playstation) I looked it up. The price plan isnt terrible for what it is and is still cheaper than cable. I still wont use it because I dont watch live TV besides cardinal games but this is a service that looks as good as sling tv IMO. It does cost more but it also has more channels View media item 125

Amazon is having their 2nd annual Prime Day tomorrow... most of the best deals will be gone quickly, but they will have $15 off the Fire TV Stick ($25 each) & $30 off the full Fire TV ($70 each). I picked up 2 Fire Sticks last year & they work decently... I think I'm going to get a full Fire TV this year for the faster interface & ethernet connection because the wifi signal in my bedroom isn't too great.

These are the leaked deals that I've seen for Prime Day so far:

  • 2016 Model – Samsung UN55KU6600 Premium Curved 55-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart TV for $649.99
  • 2016 Model – Samsung UN55KU6300 55-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart TV for $549.99
  • Fire tablet from $33.33
  • Save $50 on Amazon Echo
  • Save $30 on Amazon Fire TV
  • Save $15 on Fire TV Stick
  • Save $30 on Kindle Paperwhite
  • Up to 50% off top toy brands including Nerf, Barbie, Fisher-Price and more
  • Up to 50% off electric shavers, hair tools, and more
  • 30% off clothing, shoes, jewelry, watches & more
  • Up to 60% off athletic shoes
  • Save up to 65% on Fast & Furious 7-movie collection on Blu-Ray and DVD
  • Save big on Coleman Road Trip Portable Grill LXE
  • 31% off Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard, Book 1: The Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan
  • Save big on "DOOM" video game

  • Save big on select DEWALT and BLACK+DECKER products
  • VIZIO 2.1 Channel Sound Stand for $89.99

I am not that familiar with it. I did install 1Channel. That one is the big one for TV shows. I haven't looked for a good sports one yet, but I probably should.

I didn't have time for Kodi or Plex any longer. Just got PS Vue, Hulu, Netflix and already had Amazon Prime for shopping which comes with content. Pulled it altogether with Amazon TV and I am set.

Still saving a ton over my insanely ridiculous DirecTV bill.
