Of course it has to be Cardinal Red :)

Thank you for supporting terrorism, Stronso. I'm sure Osama appreciates it.

He probably is refering to the adds and news that say by puchasing a SUV or Big Truck you are supporting terrorism becouse of all the gas you have to use.... Which is total BS becouse we only get 5% of are oil from Iraq.... It was all in fun not the best way to make a joke but it was all in fun.

If that is his idea of a joke then he is a sick bastard. More likely he is a person who sleeps in a crate and all he can do to make himself feel better is to attack another person. Either way he is in a sorry state.

No, it's not all in fun...

Regardless of how much oil we get from the Middle East (and we get a ton, I'm talking more about Saudi Arabia [who's far worse than Iraq by any accounting, including Saudi involvement in 9/11]), the higher the demand for oil regardless of the source, the higher the price is going to be for everyone, and the richer the suppliers become. Our reliance on foreign oil keeps us involved with these evil dictators, funnelling money to them, regardless of the cost, as long as you still get to drive a brand new RAM 3500 4x4.

Also, there's a social cost involved in purchasing this obscenely large vehicle. Those of us in responsibly-sized, fuel-effiecent cars can't see around you when we're trying to turn right and you want to turn left. Who pays for the accident that's caused because we can't see around you're dumb-ass monstosity? Everyone, in the form of higher insurance rates.

You want to "see people get out of the way" when you come up behing them"? Well, I hope you're as excited when someone else in a large SUV or truck pulls out a Glock and takes a pot shot at you. The rise in "road rage" incidents is just about parallel to the increase in the percentage of SUVs and so-called "light trucks" on the road. Auto industry marketing research shows that, generally speaking, bad people drive SUVs, and that they bring out the worst instincts in people. That's what the vehicles are designed to do.

Don't believe me? Follow this link to an interesting article on all these phoenomena, authored by ESPN Page 2's Tuesday Morning Quarterback, who also happens to be an editor at The New Republic and The Atlantic Monthly, as well as a fellow at the Brookings Institute.

Come on you think becouse we are not getting oil from Iraq we have a shortage. Please you need to get you facts staight. The only reason there is a shortage is the companies that are producing the gas for the summer did an upgrade of their system and missed by a few months on the completion date. Plus all other oil countries have producted enough oil to cover Iraq's 3-5%. PS Kuwait takes oil from Iraq and can pull more than enough to ship. You might not want to belive everything in the media.

Nothing of the sort. I'm just an American, from an upper-middle class household, who lives on my own now making a good living, who's not afraid to challenge someone in their selfish, irresponsible decision-making. I'm not afraid to post this here, any more than I'm afraid to tell someone in my office what they're doing. Perhaps you can come up with a more reasonable arguement in affirmation of your support of terrorism, at home and abroad, than name calling.

Hey.... this is a thread about cars which use gas and oil. I think everyone on this board is perfectly aware of this.

And..... I bet they know where that oil comes from.

Don't turn this into a political thread.

This thread started out about diecast cars and has turned into thread of americas past time with MuscleCars and Trucks plain and simple.

We have enough political rhetoric going on now as it is.

I'm not saying that we have a shortage. I'm talking about supply and demand in a very ECON 101 way. If there's more demand (which is inevitable is more people are driving RAM 3500s and Excursions than Ford Tauruses), with the same amount of supply, the price will rise. Gas prices rise in the summer because demand is greater, because people are taking road trips. The rise in price is absorbed by the consumer, and the profit is given to the suppliers. If the demand for gas is higher, even if we buy it from South America, the total price of gas rises, because the gas that we bought could have been sold to someone else, but now they have to go buy the gas from someone else.

I can't draw any sense from your PS. I'm sorry. I understand the words, but in that order they don't seem to mean anything.

kerouac9, I must say you have to be one of the biggest moron's on the internet. It's a shame you are allowed to use a computer, now crawl back into your mamma's basement and put back on your tinfoil hat, wouldn't want the bad guys to suck your brain out.

I'm sure in reality you drive a 82 Corsica, and while you may get 49278.33 miles to the gallon, your car is a piece of crap, you are jealous that others in this world have worked hard enough to afford a vehicle that they feel safe in and that represents an amount of class. Get over it.

Well, that's a very mature response. I'm not making a value judgement on those who drive SUVs or large trucks, I'm just calling it is it is. Read the article on the link. Perhaps a more informed response will allow you something other than name calling.

So, again, I say to you, Stronso, I'm sure that Osama appreciates your support of terrorism.

Well, I am so glad that you posted that information because it truly depicts how irresponsible and selfish I truly am. Oh, and by the way, I was the one who got all of the terrorists on board (both flights) so that they could knock down the WTC. So now that we have all of that in the open let us please discuss your post.

First off, the United States of America - especially in wide expanse cities like Phoenix - rely upon automobiles and trucks. YOU too contribute to the problem. In a city like NY i use the subways, busses, etc to get around. The only time I have driven my Subaru Outback (Yes I do have a eco-responsible car) in the past 18 months was to go down to Virginia and occaisonally to Jersey. So in reality you are contributing much more to the problem than I am - despite the fact you drive a Geo Metro or whatever it is. Secondly, blame must be placed upon the American government who keep such regimes in power because it suits their own needs. All this BS about the Iraq War and Desert Storm, etc boils down to one thing: gas and oil. What comes from that? $$$ for all of the American petroleum companies who support Bush like a Wal-Mart bra on a 50 yr old hooker.

Third, I never said I was going to buy a new 3500 Ram. I said I owned one in the past. I enjoyed driving it and I paid the bills for it. When I move back I plan on buying a 1500 Ram - NOT a 3500. But really what difference does it make? Not a lick.

Lastly, I so appreciate - as others might - that you desire to act as our moral compass. <DRIPPING HEAVY SARCASM> I don't know what I could do with out your help - thank you so much Keroac for setting me straight. Now blow me. :)

BTW: When you decide to ditch your car and start riding your bike to work or the porn shop then come and talk to me. Otherwise you're just pissing in the wind.

Nope, no need, I'm sure I hit the nail on the head. Fact: you ARE a moron, no name calling, just calling em as I see em.

Now try not being so stupid as accusing someone that drives an SUV or big truck that they are supporting terrorism, and go back to spamming the board with your Josh McCown lust.
