A.C. Green was a good player, and played with some all time greats. He probably does have the record, I wouldn't know how many it is though.

Where do we look this sort of thing up?

I remember when Kevin McHale came up and was considered a top "sixth man". Later on the Celtics added Bill Walton who became a top sixth man. When AC Green first joined the Lakers he was used off the bench a lot. I'd guess the stat is driven by the nature of team.
