20-26 is great. Getting over the fumbles and running backwards when they are blitzing is learned with time. Lets not give up on him yet.

I voted to give King a chance. Three regular season games and four preseason without a passing TD is unacceptable. I am as much upset with passes knocked down last week. Josh had done nothing to be declared untouchable.

I say start King for the next two weeks and give McCown some time off. Still a young and disorganized offense, I dislike the idea of pushing Josh every game when some corrections need to be made, he can always regain the starting position.

I say put in King. Not that he would be better, but as often as Josh is running for his very LIFE, he's gotta need some rest!!!!

I voted for King. But where is my John Navarre option. That is who I really want to see.

I have never been a McCown fan, Shaun King, well he certainly looks a lot more composed than McCown, but I don't think he is the answer either.

Jeff George? I certainly would prefer that to McCown or King, but he is not a long-term solution at QB given his age.

I vote for King. If McCown is the QB of the future you don't want him getting killed today. Hide Josh on the bench until they get a little Dutch Boy in to coach the Offensive Line.

King at least he hasn't fumbled in the redzone yet. His poise in the pocket impressed me also. I am officially off the Josh bandwagon. He needs to atlest sit some games out and calm his @ss down. He just looks so strange back there. Way to impatient, he did look alright in the second quarter. King was perfect back there to, got one sack but atleast held on to the ball. I have been waiting, and waiting, and waiting for a TD from Josh. But, I will wait no longer lets see what King can do. I thought everybody on the team looked better while he was back there. The Offense in whole has given up on McCown, and if something doesn't happen the Defense will to. Well thats my 2 cents.

What was the point of taking McCown out after he got clobbered from the back side?

Take him out after the 2nd fumble maybe, but the third one he had no chance!

He was 20-26 for gosh sakes! When was the last time we had a QB go 20-26? It upset me when Denny pulled him. That was probably my least favorite Green decision to date.

Maybe he thought Josh had had enough. McCown had been sacked about 6 times at that point. But McCown was still hanging in there. Still throwing strikes.

I don't know... At least we had a chance to win.

I would have to make McCown the starter. Let's see how he responds after getting benched. I'm not impressed with McCown's decision making though, and I think football smarts is the most important thing for a quarterback to have (and I don't think McCown has it). So I have my doubts about McCown and his future, but I still have to give him another chance given the circumstances. I hope I'm wrong about this though.

Once our season is about finished (if it is ;)), I'd like to see what Navarre is capable of. Do we have another Tom Brady or just another Preston Parsons? :D

Its a ridiculously early for calling for Navarre, particularly with the trouble with the offensive line.

On McCown, I will offer up a parallel -- Matt Hasselback

Seattle pays a 1st round pick for the guy who was a backup for two or three years. Looked awesome in the preseason. Holmgren makes him the starter, and he looks bad. Worse than McCown has been to date.

Insert Dilfer, who makes the Seahawks okay, but not great. Hasselback watches for half a season or so. Dilfer gets hurt, Hasselback comes in and is much better. The next year, they make the playoffs.

I loved many of the throws he made today, but he has to have much better awareness of where he is, and to take care of the football.

No question McCown has the arm and the wheels.

Decision making ability? well, its not too bad. There was maybe one throw all day that even had a chance of getting picked.

I remember laughing with a friend about how bad of a trade that was. He didn't just look bad, he looked freaking HORRIBLE!

In total agreement with this line of reasoning. I think McCown still has some work to do upstairs and should be benched for his own sake. If he cannot come back and grab the starter position from King in a few weeks - possibly after the bye - that is on his shoulders but not for lack of opportunity.

King. I don't know how McCown can get this team to believe in him again. Shaun King had a pocket to pass out of. McCown doesn't protect the ball, doesn't have a feel for the rush, and makes his offensive linemen look back by running backwards fifteen steps before getting sacked. That give DLs a much better pass-rush angle.

McCown looks scared and totally lacking any leadership. I wouldn't put him in charge of my team. Maybe we can make Shaun King our "red zone" specialist or something.

McCown had his opportunity and he didn't take advantage of it. In St. Louis he did not look good and against New England he looked bad too but against the latter he got a free pass. Let King start and see what happens. If he looks crappy as well, McCown can always be re-inserted into the lineup. One thing's for sure, a new QB will be here in 2005 and I wouldn't be surprised if it was Brad Johnson.

I think King should start next week. McCown needs a break mentally. The sure sign he's lost his concentration is the way he has taken to these 15-20 yard dropbacks. You can't do that crap, you have to find a way to throw it away.

On the bright side, the offense, for the first time this season, moved the ball on several consecutive series in the 2nd half.

Yea, he helped them move the ball -- God knows Emmitt or anyone else was doing it.

He completed 13 in a row at one point. He's not the main problem.

He does need to focus down in the red - zone more, and improve his Pocket Awareness.

He did throw it out of bounds once or twice that I saw.

It depends on McCown's attitude. If he demonstrates a willingness to learn and correct his mistakes, I'd start him next week because he can make plays King cannot make.

But if he continues to be sloppy at ball protection during practice, I'd sit him, because - if defense continues to play well and special teams regains its previous intensity - a few less turnovers would equal a win for us.

I'd almost be tempted to make him carry a ball around with him 24/7 throughout the week (with all due respect to Mrs. McC). And I'd offer dollar prizes to any teammate, coach, staff member or family member (or fan) who can pry the ball loose from Josh while he's carrying it around. (i.e. let them go for the ball when Josh least expects it).
