Brady's chance may be this offseason, he's in year 2 of a 4 year 28 million deal but when they signed it, they didn't know if he was a one year wonder or not, now they know. His agent is reportedly already asking to renegotiate.

Don't forgetm, when he signed that deal, they cut Lawyer Milloy, Lex is right the QB contracts eventually do hurt you.

People keep saying it hasn't hurt the Colts, they can sign all their players, but guess why they can't sign any defensive help, and why they lost a solid role player like Macklin?

Of course they hurt you but rtegardless if you pay a QB $50 million as the #1 pick in the draft or $50 million in his 4th year after a pro bowl year it doesnt really matter. Do you think if McCown were putting up Culpepper like numbers this year that the Cards wouldnt have to pay him at years end? Its gonna happen. If you have a good QB-and you do need a good QB to win-then you have to pay!

There are also other issues involved in taking envelope #1 too.

#1 may have a 50% chance of having the 100 dollar bill in it, but it also has a 50% chance of having a 100 dollar DUE BILL in it.

funny, i almost edited my post to say that i'd rather pay $10 for the 50% chance at $100 than $2 for the 2% chance at a $100.

I like the title of this thread, "I knew this day would come but not so soon" referring to the day when we have three bad QBs on the roster. I may be wrong here, bu haven't we had three bad QBs on our roster for the past decade or so?

That's my point, 3 QB's that could only start in AZ. You can't build a franchise around any of these guys and factor in the OL and the Cards are in trouble for some time to come. Past failed drafts will haunt the Cardinals for a few more years.

Wouldn't it be nice if all a quarterback had to do to be a "franchise quarterback" is to be drafted in the first round?

Or is the second round ok?

How about the third?

Have there been third round "franchise quarterbacks?"

Is Tom Brady a "franchise quarterback?" Wasn't he drafted in the 6th round out of Michigan, just like Navarre?

What is the exact definition of a "franchise quarterback?"

There's a lot of questions in there.

Personally, I'd like to have a good, cheap, dependable guy behind a great team. I don't give a rats batoot if it's a different guy every year. Spend the money on the team, not the QB.

Teams that are in need of a quality QB shouldn't pass on guys like Leftwich or Ben R. or Rivers for that matter. When teams are in a position to draft a QB that has the potential to be great you have to take him. To compound matters, the Cards passed on Leftwich and didn't get anything in return. Atleast with not taking Ben R. they drafted Fitz and have something to show for it.

If the Cards are ever going to be a consistant play off team they are going to have to get a quality QB and build around him. If they don't it will be SOC.

Yup just like Brady. I wish he were our backup.

Brady is one in a million, how many other low round draft picks are pro bowl caliber QB's? Keep looking for bargain basement QB's and that's where the Cards will stay, in the basement.

You don't, but you shore as heck don't count on the guy. It would be great if Navarro turned out to be the next Brady but more than likely he'll be the next Krenzel. (sp)
