trade Q for a mid first rd pick (and more)
we have our own mid first rd pick
package 2 first rd picks, a 2, possible 2 #3's...whatever is reasonable to move up and get RB K Moreno.

No. The most successful teams don't really move up.
Let's keep the cap in good shape by drafting mid-rounders and actually coaching them to their abilities.
Let's give that a shot.

Meh on both. Q does the intangible things in a big way for us and he's a really good #2 guy. While we can probably get a mid-first for Boldin, moving up for Knowshon would be a mistake because of the chance to address two potential areas of need instead of gambling on one. Why not stand pact and settle for a back like CJ Spiller and take an OL, LB, or S? It's very early to seriously put some thought into something like this because of the underclassmen, but in an ideal class I wouldn't consider it.

No. Cut edge and give his money to Q. We've got a DEVASTATING WR corp with Breaston coming into his own. We need a money TE, and OL help. Some LB help and a decent corner in the second round and we will be strong as hell.

Trading Q isn't an option, IMO. We can't improve by subtraction, IMO.

I'd keep Q, sign a decent RT, move Brown to guard (sheash, how many OG have we drafted as OT?), then draft a OL, CB, and RB in the first 3 rounds. I think Mike Goodson will be available in the late second round, possibly 3rd. For those who haven't seen him play, he's very good, and very fast RB. May have some character issues that the Card's FO would have to look into, but other than going to A&M, he seems to be the fast, change of pace back we need.

Think S and TE from round 4 on.

Everytime someone talks about trading Q, I keep thinking about the last playoff team we had, and promptly let Centers, Miller, and Brown bolt in the following off season and Q is much, much better than all of them.

I agree. Edge will be gone after this year and his money should go to Q.

Am I missing something? We could get almost any player in the league for 5 early picks like that. It would be the worst trade in history. If we traded Q for a mid first round pick, we could draft Moreno with that pick.

We will have many holes to fill this offseason, so RB just isn't that much of a priority IMO. I say go Oline or secondary in the first. The beauty of the 3-4 is that you can find good LBs very late in the draft. We will need a few of those.

Agree 99.9% and that's scary the day after. I would add nose tackle to the mix. Not happy with Robinson or Branch. I don't care if it's a vet or a draft choice, but I think we need to upgrade nose tackle to the point where that position demands a double team.

For RB, draft another fifth-rounder:D, or sign a veteran.

If Dansby goes we will be seriously in need of LB's. We need some playmakers in the flats and in the box and losing him would be huge. Even if he hasn't dazzled like he did in past years. Chike is slipping and Hayes will always be Hayes. Add an old Bert and there are a lot of questions there.

We shouldn't need to move up that high to get Moreno if we even want him (personally he isn't on the top of my list).

I do love Q but I don't think the Cardinals will keep him.
What I meant by the trade was if we trade Q for a #1 and more, we would possibly have 5 picks in the top 3 rounds. We could swing a deal to move up in the 2009 draft.

In a draft that is loaded with depth at OT, MLB, DE, & OLB I would hate to see the Cardinals trade up for anything but one of the elite MLB's, OT's or CB's.

With that being said, I can't get over the thought of drafting Percy Harvin out of Florida. I know that he is a guy without a position, but he can play RB or WR, and has blazing speed. I can't stop picturing him and Hightower as our 2 back set or motioning out of the backfield and going deep matched up against a linebacker. It would be a total luxury pick but the matchups that this guy could provide would be so awesome. 10 touches as a RB and another 5 as a WR a game and we have the explosive element to our offense that we have lacked. A great athlete to be certain.

On trading Boldin, I can see why we would do it, but I can't love the idea. Who I wouldn't be suprised being moved is Dockett. To be honest, he really doesn't fit as a DE in the 3-4 and we do have depth behind him in Campbell. Take that pick and upgrade the offensive line or the linebacking core.

I gotcha, but my point was that it wouldn't take 5 picks to move up and get Moreno. Our original first and second would likely do the trick.
