I am really concerned about the pitching and this team overall. I watched Garland last night and he did not look that sharp. The DBacks made a nice comeback after being down 4-0 to tie 4-4 just to have Pena give up a Grand Slam with 2 outs and 2 strikes. I don't know how you just "turn it on" when it is needed.

From what I hear Garland is working on adding new pitches. Come regular season I doubt he'll be trying to throw these pitches.

The defense has been shakey as well. Im a little concerned, but I know I shouldnt be. Dbacks were bad last season during spring training as well... then they came out on fire once the regular season starts. Im hoping for the same this year.

Hazzard, that is exactly what I feel. Last year they went 12-20 in Spring and then started 20-8 on the season.

This team has poor fundamentals

Again, we look shakey in situational baseball and fielding fundamentals. That is on the manager and if my theory is correct they need a butt kicker type manager and not comatose Bob Melvin.

Addressing this point, I am just not a believer in Pena as a quality reliever.

The role that Melvin wants to use him in is too crucial for mediocrity. And I think he's mediocre.

We'll see.

The inning before that he was lights out. Just weird.
