I think the most important position to be draft is a CB, then it would be a DL and LB. WR is on the bottom of my list of concerns.

Worst kept secret for the Cardinals in this draft is "THEY NEED A CORNERBACK!"

Or is he ? Betting on a rookie to be the guy that puts us in in the playoffs, is like playing the lottery for your retirement plan. We will draft a CB but if you expect that guy to be the answer this year you will all be dissaponted IMO. I think the depth of this CB draft will free up a better crop of older CB's which IMO could be the guy that helps a playoff run this year. JMO

While there's definitely a layer of smokescreen to the whole thing, I actually partially agree with what Arians has said - I don't think any of these are such glaring needs that you HAVE to use the 1st round pick for them, unlike in previous Cardinals history where the void at the position dictated what we had to do, reach or not (I'm looking at you, Levi Brown).

It's no mystery that there could be players brought in at these positions, but if you don't get the right CB in the first three rounds, you could potentially look at a Revis, Sam Shields, Brandon Flowers or someone on a one year prove-it deal like Keim has succeeded with. We can get by with a 2nd round WR, or even wait a little longer. We invested a 1st round pick on a DT/DE last year and aren't going to find an immediate replacement for someone as good as Calais in this draft anyways.

He's right in that we can go a lot of directions with our pick.

This class is deep, if u draft one in round 1 , is like paying a car full price even if u know in few weeks u could get a discount

there are several players in this draft that can make this team better this season. There are a few CB's in this draft who can make our defense better this season.... you never want to have to count on a rookie but there are some who can do the job..... pretty sure Kevin King could start opposite PP21 on day 1 and not be a disaster.....Foster or Reddick could start at ILb and do well... maybe not better than Buc or Dansby is the catch...

BA had a 40 minute open interview at the NFC coaches breakfast -- it's the source of 95% of what has been coming out.

I think the audio is at azcardinals.com -- when I listened to it, it sounded like BA just shooting the breeze. It sure didn't sound like half the stuff he said was all that serious or well thought out.

I consider it interesting but not definitive.

In other words, typical coach/GM behavior leading up to the draft.

Actually, BA uses a lot of misdirection. For example, he said the team wouldnt draft a QB and then takes Logan Thomas the following day. Pretty much every coach uses the draft process as smoke and mirrors. Setting up visits for players who the team has no intention of drafting, indicating that they're fine at a particular position, etc. Best advice? Ignore. As a matter of fact, I'm intentionally ignoring mock drafts until Mayock's mock the day before the draft. I'm not swayed by the BS that coaches and GMs spout, but it is a bit annoying.

Following the mocks:

Three things I zero in on -

1. How an individual draft-expert's mocks evolve over time

2. When several drafters all jump on player's bandwagon during the final week.

3. What local beat writers say about the home town team's pick during the final 2 days (i.e. these guys usually have good inside contacts with the local team. Sometimes team officials will throw them a bone which makes the beat guy sound like a genius).

Pressure is what ultimately rattles QB's and makes a few more DB' s near Pro bowl quality.

Don't know how effective that Foster or Reddick can be as blizers. And it will be interesting how they address bringing pressure up the middle or collapsing the pocket.

This draft may tell how they feel they are in that phase of the D.

Kpassagnon DT from Villanova is 6-6 with off the charts workout scores. He might be just the guy to fill Calais' shoes inside if we could get him at #77 (drafting him at #45 might be too rich - though one draft rumor says one team (Miami?) really likes him and could pick him off somewhere in the low #20's).
