This is pretty much all I got from the National media regarding our game today:

Cam Newton is a GOD, sets rooking QB passing record, is hereby named to replace the recently retired (we think)Favre as media darling!!!

oh..and the Cardinals won the game.

Saw it on ESPN. In all reality it is fine with me, I'd rather be flying under the radar than getting slobbed on by the media all season long.

Meh, if Cam was on our team and the situations were reversed, it'd be the same. History was made today.

funny what people can get use too! The Refs were Panther fans, Both roughing the passers are never called on any team but the Cardinals. The challenge was the most obvious, in fairness the official got struck, but all could see he was out of bounds. We are in a 2 score deficit before the opening gun, by bad calls, like every year.

I don't blame the kid I blame the East Coast bias, media who are more worried about blowing off their own pie hole and manufacturing news about their opinion, then the game and story of the games. Espn has the best coverage and it really sucks, Cris Carter's prediction is a bigger story than The Cards Defense forcing Cam to pass so much, cause their top run offense - could not run! and Our defense sacked and contained a great running QB, rookie or not! PP was a rookie also as Jefferson started his first game!

So I salute the Cardinals Defense for what they did right and Cam Newton also because of this

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/gametr...ers-440-yards-in-debut-panthers-fall-to-cards

The statistics seemed to mean little to the big, young quarterback, who was unbeaten in his BCS championship season at Auburn.
"The last time I lost a game was Navarro Junior College," Newton said. "What do you want me to say, it feels great? It is not a comfortable feeling for me."

Cam deserves it. He was the number 1 pick and in his first NFL game, he broke records...

Im just glad we won and can try to fix the coverage problems.

You would at least think PP7 would get a little love.....none.

But who cares. I am happy with the game.

Cam was impressive. We let him be, but he was poised and threw darts all over the place.

And i hate cam.

Give Cam some credit. He's already on his second contract to play football, so he's got experience!

Considering how many people wanted Cam to fail, I think he deserves it. Our secondary gave a lot to him, but the reality is he stood tall in the pocket, delivered the ball exactly where it needed to go, and the results came with it. And he didn't bite into the media trying to make it about him, but instead focused on the fact that they lost. He literally showed everyone why he was worth the #1 pick yesterday, and he did it in a completely over the top manner, just like he had always done in college.

There was probably not much we could have done to stop him, if we didn't have the assignment errors (A-Dub) and PP21 was completely up to speed, he likely still throws for 300 yds. He just had one of those days.

You'd think the "Best Game Every by a Rookie QB" would include a win.... but I guess not.

Cam played WAY better than anyone anticipated, though he has some HUGE windows to throw into. Carolina's secondary also played much better than I thought possible. I tip my hat to them, and am glad we got the win.

Time to get ready for DC.

Go Cards!!!

Judging by the look on his face after the game he certainly thought so. He looked like he lost the game AND his puppy.

Welcome to the NFL, Cam.

A couple things:

1. He was the first overall pick in the draft.
2. He was the subject of great debate on him as a prospect with opinions all over the board -- nobody knew what to expect
3. He came out of nowhere last year to lead Auburn to a Natl Champ.
4. He sets the rookie debut passing mark with an outstanding game

I am a Cardinal fan: but from a national interest standpoint -- he should be the story.

I think that years of being fans of a dreadful franchise (pre- UOP) have conditioned us to perceive everything as a slight. The reality is that the Cardinals are treated pretty much like every other "non- storied tradition franchise" in the NFL.

Merrill Hodge said that part of Cam's success was they had a great running attack.

UHM?

I think Merrill had a concussion between when he said that and when he looked at a box score. Seriously, we stuffed the run. Which only makes Cam's performance more impressive.

Before I proclaim Cam as good I want to see his results over 16 games. He had a very good game yesterday and the Cards certainly did some things to help him out as did some very questionable calls.

And Horton should plaster all these articles in the secondary's lockers to remind them that a rookie in his first game made them look like chumps.

They are better than they showed on Sunday. The better bring it in Washington or it is going to be a long day.

I'd just like to remind everyone that the number 5 pick - also in his first NFL game - also broke a record* and scored the winning TD.

*89 yards punt return/longest in team history according to the FOX guys.

There was another QB that set the rookie record (at that time, now surpassed by Stafford of Detroit and Newton) for passing yards; also in a losing effort.

Yep, Matt Leinart (405 yards) vs Minnesota!

At least Van Pelt had Kolb on his radio show today. KK didn't say much, standard player speak..but he did pimp Graves for putting this team together, fwiw. Said he also is having to work overtime to get the offense down.

He's the story. I don't see the problem.

Also, for the record: Seems I was wrong about him. I didn't think he'd make it in the pros. Sure, it may be early to proclaim him a long-term success, but it sure looks like he's going to be a great one.
