As I noted in a previous thread they were gong to go after some offense because of the loss of Wheeler and Vbata. I am sorry to see Ballard go but you have to give something good to get something good. Also Boedker was a great pick. This team is going to score alot of goals this year and I now expect another trade by the Yotes to pick up a defenseman in the 1st round.

Boedker is an exceptional pick at #8. He very well could become the second best forward to come out of this draft.

Gretzky also mentioned that the Coyotes might be moving back into the first round.

Boedker brings some much needed speed. I was glad they took a wing instead of a defensiveamn. Next pick they go defense.

The Coyotes made another move late yesterday as they traded picks #35 and #38 in for pick #28 in order to select Viktor Tikhonov. He is the grandson of the legendary coach of the same name, who won 9 World Championship titles and 3 Olympic gold medals for Russia. Tikhonov is a center currently playing in the Russian Superleague, but he is a different breed from other countrymen we have seen in the past in that he speaks english, lives in California in the offseason, and is willing to play in the AHL if needed. Tikhonov was named Best Forward at the 2008 World Junior Championships, after scoring 5 goals and 2 assists in 7 games.

They did well in this draft. Boedker is a speedy winger, and IMO will be very good eventually. Tikhonov, the Americanized Russian with an incredible lineage will probably begin in the minors. I heard that of all the prospects in the combine, Staal reported with the highest body fat %, so I'd expect a year of conditioning in the minors, then he can start working on living up to the Staal name. They felt that Stone and Brodeur are good enough to start restocking the defense around, both are 18, so they will get bigger and better, at least that's the plan. Long, the scorer from the OC, should get a good look, as will Billingsley and Hextall (will he have his dad's fiesty demeanor?). Alex Bourret, whom they traded for, could be like another ex-Hartford Wolf Pack player, Craig Weller, and make the squad with a good training camp. We may never see the players picked in the later rounds, but there's certainly something to follow this season, and it will be a fierce battle to make the team, with Summers, Kolarik, Porter and MacLean knocking on the door.

Woo Hoo!!!

So the Coyotes really made my off season with this draft...I love the move to get Tikhonov....and so far these Stahl dudes have been solid NHL players....hope we got the best of the family...and getting Jokinen is such a great move...getting a proven Centerman is something this team has been missing for years.....Can we start the season already? ;)
I cant wait to see this team
