I was picking up lunch for work at the Pita Jungle in Arcadia today, and as I sat in the lobby, I noticed Derrick Hall waiting for lunch with his family. He was decked out in a red D'acks polo. He noticed my red D'backs hat and nodded and I said "you guys are doing a great job" he thanked me, asked if I went to ASU (had an ASU shirt on) and we chatted for a bit. I have to say how impressed I am with the guy, I didn't want to go on and on and bother his family time, but he was extremely courteous, interested in what I had to say and seemed like a really cool guy.

Anyway, it probably wasn't thread worthy or anything, but its nice to see the D'backs being run by what seem to be nice people.

Nah dude, that was a good story. Its nice to hear about public figures spending sometime talking to the fans that line their pockets. He seems like a good guy on TV helping out on the FSN broadcast on a spot basis.'

In a related topic, a couple of years ago, the owner of the Dodgers patted me on the ass while I was at Dodger Stadium. Im sure it was an accident, but it was kind of weird

What is this sentence supposed to mean? Are you a Dback employee? Do yuo know one? Do they hate management? Are there not idiot employees at every firm in the country that think they could be doing a better job.

All I know is the D'backs are in 1st place w/ a low payroll, have done massive stadium upgrades, and have the cheapest tickets in baseball.

D-backs named among Valley companies as 'Best Places to Work' by Phoenix Business Journal and BestCompaniesAZ
Organization becomes first sports team to win prestigious honor

PHOENIX -- The Arizona Diamondbacks became the first sports organization to be named among Valley companies as one of the "Best Places to Work" when the Phoenix Business Journal and BestCompaniesAZ announced their list of 2007 recipients at an award luncheon today at the Arizona Biltmore. The D-backs ranked 15th among medium-sized companies with 101-250 full-time employees.

Founded in 2003, the "Best Places to Work" program ranks Valley companies through a third-party administered employee survey. The areas surveyed include various parts of employee life, including workplace environment, leadership direction, culture and management practices. Hundreds of companies were nominated for the award and 90 companies overall were named a "Best Places to Work" in small-, medium- and large-sized company categories.

"This recognition means a lot to us," said D-backs' President Derrick Hall. "We have always said that we have the best fans in Major League Baseball and it is now evident that we have the best employees as well. We work hard to ensure that our employees enjoy a family-friendly environment that is both challenging and rewarding."

D-backs employees are encouraged to follow the organization's "Circle of Success" philosophy to provide industry-leading entertainment in a clean, safe and family-friendly environment and to make a positive impact on its fans and civic partners by focusing on team performance, fan experience, financial efficiency, workplace culture and community contribution. In doing so, the organization will consistently compete for championships, treat its customers to quality service and entertainment, invest in its product, employees and fans, and establish and maintain a position of leadership in the community.

D-backs employees also operate under core values established by the leadership team that provide true framework for effective decision making. Those values include investing into the people who work for the organization, cultivating and enhancing relationships with employees, establishing integrity by accepting individual and collective responsibility, foster learning throughout the organization while considering outside points of view, and expecting positive results from the organization both on and off the field.
