For some reason I just can't stand the draft in its current format...the time stuff between picks is the only improvement. The draft was just better to me when it last 2 days rather than being stretched out like it currently is.

I am not alone in this am I?

Ask my TV. It's heard me whine about this every year. I loved it when it was all day Saturday and Sunday.

Not alone. Loved waking up on a Saturday morning like Christmas, waiting to see the new gifts of hope we got.

It was always a great way to blow a weekend. I remember the early Saturdays at Rockin Rodeo for the Cards draft parties then going back home to follow the draft on ESPN.

NFL stretched it out for greed alone...I guess you can't blame them, a good business always looks for ways to make more money. I just don't think it is as fan friendly as it used to be.

Yup, we used to love the old draft parties at Rockin Rodeo. I have spent many years day boozing at the draft party and then ending up at Skip and Jans (or whatever it was called at the time) playing pool til the wee hours of the night.

The NFL took "Man Weekend" from me. And I will always hate them for it.

Everyone hates it. Really sad.

Ratings don't lie.
You are both right! :wink2:

The new format stinks and everyone hates it, but by having Round 1 on Thursday night, when more people are home watching television, as opposed to weekend activites on a Saturday, the NFL has a bonanza.

All the hardcores (which includes most of the participants of this website) are going to tune in whenever it is and they also pull in numerous casual fans that wouldn't miss their weekend activities to view the draft.

Its amazing that the NFL draft will pull a higher viewership tonight than the NBA playoffs! :jawdrop:

I'm not a fan but if they're doing it for the money it means that more people are able to watch it and I can't fault them for that.

Against the general support for the old way, I luv the new format. Gives me time to sort things out between sessions. Makes my thur an event! Sucking a Blue Moon at the local bar as I type this. A few more minutes and game on.

I hate this fricking format. It has sucked a lot of joy out of watching the draft for me.

So true! My sister and I were talking about this tonight. They could have it at midnight on a Tuesday and we would still watch. They have us by the balls.

I very much miss waking up and running out to get hoagies and beer and wasting away my Saturday with my sibling watching the draft. I hate that we get to see the first round and now have to wait til tomorrow to see what happens next. Plus, I won't be anywhere close to a TV when the draft starts tomorrow, which ticks me off.

But, hey, I guess in the grand scheme of life, there are more important things to be ticked off about.
