It was $249. You lose.

Doesn't matter if it wasn't your money.

Ok, so I did my free Wii offers and I got a Wii for a price I am comfortable with, roughly $9.73.

They had no Wii in stock so they sent a check for $300. Nice, since it will cover the Wii and the sports addon with the extra controller (wii play?).

No, THEY paid that much. I paid $9.73.

Tailpipe.

true. You had a check for what, $300? I'd have spent it on something else, probably.

Exactly. They didn't give you a Wii Gift Card or anything like that.

No, they gave you money, and YOU paid that much.

They gave me money for the wii. I consider that store credit. If I had not completed the offers, I wouldn't have got a wii. However, I did and we decided that would be the Santa present. I'm not about to take a store credit and screw my kids over.

Basically, freegamesite said "hey, here go buy this for us so we can give it to you. There you go." If someone asks you to buy, oh, I don't know a zune or something and you buy it for them and they give you the money for it plus 5 bucks, do you really say that you paid 80 bucks for a zune or that you made 5 bucks?

Account pre-wii +$9.73
Account post - wii -$9.73

Scoreboard!

Yes, they did. It said FreeGameConsoles to Donald. Here's some cash. Get the damn wii because we suck at inventory. Thanks for paying nothing.

You got suckered in to buying a Wii at $249, when you said that you would only pay $99.

I don't agree with your store credit notion, as they gave you a check, and not a gift card.

Funny, my bank account doesn't agree with you. It sees a net loss of $9.73.

If you want to fit it into your twisted version of reality, consider the check to be a wiibate.

I am sooooo not buying mario galaxy for you if I see it at TRU today....

Man, I can see both sides.

On one hand, they gave Donald the cash in leui of a Wii.

On the other hand, they basically paid him $300 to jump through their hoops.

We had a huge thing at work, regarding accounting regulations, with managers giving away movie tickets, which should be taxable, since they have a cash value. In order to avoid the tax, you have to give tickets to a specific showing of a movie (American Gangster at 7PM Friday).

You could give someone an iPod, but cant give them a $149 Best Buy giftcard, since that can be used for anything.

Laws are weird.

That's so odd. Especially a specific showing of a movie. Weird.

I try to earmark money that comes in and use it for its intended purposes. For example, from the sales of Cards tickets we didn't use, I have some money sitting in an account to be untouched. That is money for next season's tickets. I don't consider it money I own...I'm just going to make some interest on it then turn it back into the ticket money from which it came.

I was born to be a politician. (well, I guess not because if so I would use the ticket money and then go back to the people who bought the tickets and force them to pay me more money to cover what I spent. Then borrow from China to pay my renewal.)

I'm sorry. Please forgive me. They have a few copies at the BB near me. Hopefully they will price match, without an ad. It has been hit or miss.
