Good movie!

Absolutley loved it from beginning to end. It was fast paced, good special effects, funny too.

Will Smith continues to be an underrated actor IMO.

Well worth admission!

I'll probably enjoy the movie (I think I'm seeing it this evening), but I'll take it for what it will be...just another action flick. It doesn't try to stick to the book, which I loved, so I won't be upset about that. I WILL be upset that it is antithetical to everything Asimov believed and stood for. Asimov portrayed robots in a good manner, opposing the mainstream genre at the time, who did nothing but vilify the robot. So, yeah, making a movie about a robot revolution kind of flies in the face of that.

Still, it'll probably be a fun movie.

THIS ONE IS FOR YOU KOC. TIM WE DID IT.
I watched Sound of Music last night, My girlfriend tricked me into it saying that the "Sound of Music" was a naked girl killing spree with tons of killing and naked women and that the sound of their bra's getting ripped off and the sound of .45 cal rounds ringing out into the night is why it was called the "Sound of Music" cause bras and bullets are like music to this producer... :bang: :bang:

good movie - i like the action and the cg. very well done with a decent plot and dialogue (although it seemed a little forced at times).

i'd recommend it.

Did we watch the same movie ? The credits at the end say it all "Suggested by I, Robot".

This movie has almost nothing to do with the book, almost nothing. The book is not an action story, this tries to one and fails.

It rips off Minority Report, The Matix, AI and Attack of the Clones so bad I'm surpised they wern't sued for copyright infringement.

It didn't quite suck (like the Matrix sequels did), but it sure had little to do with I, Robot story other than the title.

Be Afraid, be very afraid, of wasting your time and money. Rent it later, its worth that.

You got issues. That was a good movie.

Do you really goto a movie expecting them to be just like the book? If so you are almost always dissapointed I would bet. Thats a shame.

Please explain how they ripped off anything? I would be really curious to hear this?

This was an excellent movie that actually had more to do with the book than some might think, in an overview sort of way.

Nidan, you're absolutely wrong, IMO. I looked at that movie and saw a real movie. Just because other movies have robots, or futuristic police practices, doesn't make this a clone of such a movie.

*****spoiler, to see what was surprisingly like the book*****

The book, a collection of short stories, was dedicated to the induction of robots and the three laws, a history of robotics to serve as the background for the future series, set far in the future of the book's world. The main thrust of I, Robot was the telling of different tales of the three laws going wrong, seemingly at random, the discovery of HOW those three laws were actually not malfunctions of the laws, but far too literal interpretations of them, and finding out how to fix those interpretations. In this, the movie was right on the button, because that's EXACTLY what happened (without a resolution of the interpretation problem, obviously).

The whole production design even down to his car was straight out of minority report.

The Robot carriers and were drawn from the New Star wars

The images of Robots landing from a great height was straight out of the Matrix, the pose on landing was indentical. Also the scene in the corridor when Sunny was bringing the nanobots back was definatly inspired by the corridir scene at the end of the matrix.

I thikn that was exactly what I said, in the credits at the end they admitted it was "Suggested by I, Robot", so yes in overview, or in the loosest sense that was a connection. But by No means was the story (what little there was) really related to the book.

Given that spoliers are really not possible if talking about the book as there is little connection.

I believe the basis for the main story is "Little Lost Robot", where Dr Calvin has to find a specialy modified NS-2 robot amid 62 other unmodified NS-2s.

The story was set on a Hyper Drive research base in space. There was never any action or any attempt to take over the world. The whole premise for the story was how they identified the rogue robot.

They did include some cocnepts from the last story in the book, which I won't mention due to spoliing. But really folks this movie has almost nothing to do with t book, which is one of the greatest Sci-fi books ever written. That is what disappointed me.

It wasn't a terrible movie but it could have been a great one. Insteand some dork in Hollywood wrote an action movie with almost no connection to the book they used to sell it. It had little originality or other redeming features. Yes, good special effects but they were largely cloned from Minority Report, which was original and far better.

Maybe it's just me, but I think it's pretty cool that they took all these good ideas from other films and packed them into one, good, two-hour popcorn flick. This was definitely worth the $6.50.

We all know Hollywood loves to rip itself off all the time, so that is a given when you walk into a movie like this one.

As far as the story goes, it really had a great twist and if you weren't trying to figure it out, it stayed a mystery most of the way through.

This one is already on the must own list.

I saw it Saturday...I'd give it a 6.5 out of 10...

Story was good up until the overblown ending...I thought it was actually going somewhere cool when they showed the robots in canisters, huddled together...but then the invasion, and typical "summer action" took over with the ultimate "inject the virus" ala Independence Day, etc.

Not what I was hoping...and yes, some of you are right...they stole a lot of stuff from other movies, but if you're going to do a robot invasion, not much else you can do.

pretty good flick overall - though I went in expecting the worse. Some cheesy dialogue but the action scenes were pretty incredible and it had some of the best special effects I've seen in a flick in a while. I think I'm mellowing as far as movies - I had been overly critical for probably half a decade until I realized that I just wasn't loving what realy is my true love. They're just movies guys, you shouldn't take them so sierously - once you make the decision to turn your brain off once the lights go out, it's hard to be offended by anything . . . unless Hillary Duff is in it - then you'd still want to kill yourself and all the more power to you!

the robots in the canisters reminded me a lot of the robot in Iron Giant. i thought they were cool and had some personality and emotion to them. they looked sad.
