I think it is time for many on this board to take vacation.

The offseason is here.

It gets kind of boring during this time. But many football finatics like myself, will still come to the board and "chew the cud" with some fellow Cardinals fans.

Most of the time it is just to kick around some ideas, and talk about what is going on.

No, we are not experts and do not claim to be experts. No, we are not part of the Cardinals organization so we do not know what is going on behind the scenes.

We are just here to talk football, Cardinals football.

But some, for some reason that I cannot figure out, don't want to hear people talking about free agency, the draft, or pre-season.

They don't read anything they just consistantly pick out one or two posters insult them. Tell them how stupid they are for talking about anything in the offseason, and add nothing to this board except for frustration and anger.

To them I say leave until the season starts in September. Cause this is a forum. People come here to converse with one another about Cardinals football. I cannot understand the complex some have that people come to this forum to talk about the Cardinals. Why is this such a hard concept ?

If you don't like what we are talking about in a thread then DON'T POST !!!!

The thread will go away faster if you do.

If you NEED to post something then all I ask is you add something about the topic at hand. Heck, you can even pull the route that some do on this board. You can insult AND THEN give some feed back on what we are talking about.

But to just post insults with no substance is like pretty pathetic. It makes you sound like a 4 year old brat whose parents should have given a whoopin' to years ago.

Some please save your mindless, insulting, and shallow posts for some other forum.

We already know that you:

A. Think everyone on this board is wrong, and you are right.

B. Think that the preseason means nothing to you

C. Think that change for the sake of change is not a good

D. Think, for some reason, I and a few others are a self-proclaim sports experts whose words should be carved into stone as law (I don't remember saying this but it seems to be what some think).

Please do this. I would be nice to enjoy this board for one offseason without constantly defending my pride, intellegence (what there is of it), and countless other personal things that are attacked.

I just want to talk football without the useless side BS.

Thanks

I came up with an example of what I see going on.

It is like if some one saw a sign for a lemonade stand on the side of the road. Walked over to the stand and were shocked and appauled that the stand was selling lemonade. Then when the kid running the stand (for about 10 cents a cup) says something about lemonade they scream at him, insult him, and tell him that he is crazy for selling lemonade at a lemonade stand. Asking the kid what the heck does he know about lemonade? Who the heck does this kid think he is? The pepsi company?

When it is a lemonade stand, clearly marked as such. And at the stand there is just a kid who wants to sell lemonade for fun.

Is it "pink" or "regular" lemonade? Kinda silly to be selling something without going into specifics...or is this a case of "buyer beware"? ;)

Pink is the better of the two.

WAIT before I go I guess I should state in case:

1. I am not a lemonade expert.
2. I don't work the Pepsi Company
3. That this statement is merely my opinion and should not be taken as a fact.
4. That I apologize to all that do not care to see anything about lemonade for wasting there valuable time.

That should cover my basis.

Of course if you were selling "Cardinal Lemonade" that might draw a crowd. :)

Wait. What is the actual content of the 10 cent cup? 5 ounces? 8 ounces? Did you get a health department permit to run this alleged "lemonade stand"?
Did the FDA approve all the ingredients in this "lemonade"?

Oh never mind, I'll have cup..

I frequent this board, two baseball boards, and a university board. In regards to people attacking your intelligence this board is not the worst of the lot.....but we could give each other some slack.

My problem here is that I have a long memory and when someone attacks and I turn out the winner (somewhat rare) then I can't stop myself from getting back at the person. I guess what I'm trying to say is people need to realize that some of us watch a lot of football and can make a somewhat intelligent stance on how we think a player will turn out. It's of course a hit and miss situation as I can be right on someone just as much as I can be wrong. For example, I thought Step could play in the NFL at center after watching his college play...but it always wasn't at center and he's struggled mightily at that position in the NFL.

Cardinal fans need to support each other....we get laughed at by others enough the way it is.

Amen. Similar but not the same. When the Chicago Bulls kept winning championships year after year, rarely if ever did anyone talk about them on the radio. Only when things started going into the tank did the cockaroaches come out to play. I guess its human nature or cockaroach nature.

True! When everything is going well no problem. When the inevitable decline happens, it's all gloom and doom.

However, this offseason got off to a nasty start, when they let Davis go for no compensation, underestimated the supply/demand equation for free agents, and, IMO, appear to have no Plan B, if, or rather when, their initial choice(s) falls through. I can normally see the reasoning behind decisions, but this offseason my concern is growing by the day.

Add in that last season was probably the most frustrating, disappointing, heartbreaking season in all the time the Cards have been in Arizona and there is no mystery as to why fans are a little perturbed right now.

To paraphrase somebody, I don't remember who, "When they start competing we'll stop complaining".

I came up with an example of what I see going on.

It is like if some one saw a sign for a Kool-Aide on the side of the road. Walked over to the stand and were shocked and appauled that the stand was selling Kool-Aide. Then when the kid running the stand (for about 10 cents a cup) says something about Kool-Aide they scream at him, insult him, and tell him that he is crazy for selling Kool-Aide at a Kool-aide stand. Asking the kid what the heck does he know about Kool-Aide? Who the heck does this kid think he is? Jim Jones?

When it is a Kool-Aide stand, clearly marked as such. And at the stand there is just a kid who wants to sell Kool-Aide for fun.

Fixed that for you!

Rugby,

As I read your post above, it seems your making a couple of separate points. I may be one of the one's you're speaking of, or maybe not.

First off, I agree that there is no room on this site for personal attacks. That said, there are a few very knowlegable individuals in here, who's opinion I've come to to respect alot, even though they often come accross as .... abrasive.

While I feel some people like to toe the line of what I would call decency, they often put forth enough interesting, and thought provoking ideas to keep me visiting this site everyday. I will always thank Jim for making ASFN available to us at no cost.

However, I have to take issue with you saying,
If you don't like what we are talking about in a thread then DON'T POST !!!!
I was under the impression that this forum was for discussing different issues about the team.

For instance, you and several others, are obviously upset with the way this free agency period has unfolded. While I too am disappointed, I am willing to see the organizations viewpoint and understand (I hate that word in this context) where they are coming from and I can still respect their decisions.

When I see a thread with twenty posts, all bashing the Bidwills and Rod Graves (Who takes more personal attacks in here than anyone), I may reply with my opinion of why they are/aren't taking a certain course of action.

Our main difference (Kool-aiders/DarkSiders), the way I see it, is that I believe Rod Graves and Michael Bidwill truely want to win and feel that what they are doing is what is best for the team. Because of that, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, as I conceed that they know far more about the current market / situation than any of us will ever know.

Most people here, strongly disagree with this notion; however, I feel that I have just as much right to defend the organization in a thread in which "I disagree" as you have to claim their incompetance. I shouldn't have to take a "vacation" until September, just as I don't think you should have to for your views either.

Sorry for the vent,

Go Cards!!!
