Magloire just got waived by the Nets. He does a good job against Shaq and plays above average defense against real Centers.

I was hoping they wouldn't pick up another center. Their extremely thin in that position with only Erica Dampier.

I remember when just a few years ago people were willing to trade Marion straight up for Magloire. Rarely do you see a player go from all-star to the waiver wire so quickly.

yea we got him. he has not shown much yet although he hasnt played much yet.

we have brandon bass who ive actually been impresses with. he is a bit on the small side but has good hustle, and im sure without him we would not have been willing to let diop go, which im still not sure about. we shall see.

I think Magloire is strictly insurance--I think Bass is twice the player Magloire is now.

when I read the title of this thread, I thought he meant suns fans might want to trade shaq to the mavericks lol.

no I don't think the mavs could afford shaq going back to before the trade deadline of course. not that he wouldn't fit in with dampier though. shaq would be a slight upgrade in that regard.

I don't know much about magloire at this point. he hasn't played yet. bass is very impressive....what a move by dallas. this guy has a future. It kind of reminds me of diaw's signing with the suns 2 years ago. bass didn't do much with N.O. but he has shown a lot of potential in a mavs uniform. bass can't guard a seven footer on a consistent basis.....more than a couple of mins at most maybe. He's more of a guy who matches up for the mavs when they go small. that's why the mavs had to replace diop. dampier will play most of the time unless he's in foul trouble or avery is matching guys up(which I don't always like). bass is young and still has some work to do in the consistency dept. on both ends of the floor. he did a great job guarding artest the other night though.
