I think we all knew how ESPN would cover the game

The offense didn't score when Matty was the QB. Enough said.
It was much better with DA.

Not really. All the Cards did when Anderson was in was try to throw the ball to Andre Roberts and got two of them intercepted.

The first group offensive line looked ridiculous. I wouldn't be surprised to see both Keith and Wells replaced eventually by Bridges and Lutui.

Of course it could be just getting used to the new positions and we've got 3 more weeks for them to gel.

FTFY...

Matt looked worlds better than DA today and the lack of scoring was not due to Matt...

The story was written by the associated press and not espn. The exact same article is on KTAR's site. So while I do expect ESPN to butcher the story when they get around to actually covering the game at this point they are innocent.

They chose the headline...

Yahoo! Headline (same basic article): Schaub, Williams shine for Houston in 19-16 loss

Huh? Anderson looked horrendous! He lived up to his scouting report: big arm, little accuracy. Dude had at least two VERY uncatchable balls and two interceptions. The one TD does not excuse the rest of his throws.

I don't think Matt or DA looked good tonight. So I agree with the headline.

Matt threw weak passes and stared down the the receivers.

DA threw every ball like a rope with no touch on them at all.

Skelton looked the best tonight. Looked at more than one option once or twice and threw a nice ball. Did under throw Williams on a possible TD that got flagged.

Am I the only one that assumed Toro was being sarcastic?

Funny, I walked out of that game thinking that maybe the QB controversy garbage would get a week off after Matt outplayed Derek so badly... only to listen to Cardinal Talk where half the callers wanted to bench Matt for Derek. Huh? I was there and I don't get it. Matt looked pretty good... our starting o-line didn't. Andersen didn't look good at any point.

I'm having a hard time believing this is a serious statement. DA was as bad as I feared he would be. He stared down his receivers, he threw the ball high, he threw 10 yard passes so hard they went through hands, and he threw 2 picks.

How was that MUCH better than ML? If you were being sarcastic I apologize but I never know.

Portland Oregon these days.
I'm wondering if this won't be our collection of early game headings.

With all the lovefest for the 49'ers and the disrespect for the Cards, we may well see headlines like: "Rams Lose Heartbreaker", "Falcons Falter", "Leinart no Warner but Cards Pull it Out", and the ever popular "Chargers Blow It Big".

agreed it was against scrubs but skelton looked better than anybody, and scrub or not you can't take away the accuracy he showed
especially on those sideline throws

He did look comfortable out there and had good pocket presence. Like the way he threw the ball with a nice touch. Has potential for sure.

I was at the game and totally agree with you. Neither qb looked sharp. Whisenhunt stated that he was very disappointed with the 1st team offense. I don't know why some on the Board are saying that Matt had a good game. None of the media is nor am I. He was mediocre for sure. Its just the first preseason and hopefully the offense and Matt will do better.

Case in point: Alex smith plays worse than Leinart and the scrub pull off the victory and the headline on ESPN is, "Golden Start". The script is already in..
